Well, the piece conducted by Lenny Bernstein Jeff mentions in post 14854 is by Berlioz (although he hasn't said so!) and is very famous. The most famous of all though (and groundbreaking and beautiful) is Symphonie fantastique, composed in 1830 and way ahead of it's time. The best known movements are numbers 2 (a ball) and 4 (march to the scaffold).
