I'd be interested to see how those players on the surplus list perform now CL is gone....

Remember when Smith first came here, he was class. Now he seems to have all his confidence, we've broken him. Need to get him back to how he was!

I didn't realise Smith had gone down hill that much...

By the sounds of it though we've pretty much been hoofing it lately, could that be part of why Smith isn't doing as well?

If Smith isn't doing well on the wing, I'd try him up front as he such incredible pace.

Anyway, my team would probably be:

Stearman, Paddy McCarthy, Johansson, Sheehan
Hammond, Gudjonsson, Wesolowski, Smith
Hume, Fryatt



Only problem with that may be that both wide midfielders are very attacking and might not help out the 2 inexperienced fullbacks enough, especially on the left. That's why I'd go for two more defence minded centre mids though, leaving out Hughes and Williams, and also Nisse's experience in defence to help out Sheehan. Maybe play Kisnorbo instead of Sheehan. Still think he was alright at LB and should be tried there more before he's written off as completely useless, may just be the solution to our LB problem.

Wake up and smell the coffee - and the deep poo we are in!

We often get muscled off the ball and we have little physical presence in our youngsters.

So de Vries and Dublin (unless he has fallen out with everyone) get my vote until we are safe. And Dublin is a great leader on the pitch, unless Lennon comes back of course!

i agree. As crazy as it might sound...I'd have Taitto and Dublin in. We're in a scrap and need players with experience. If we're going to play long balls up...get Dublin up front. He's better in the air than MDV.

This true but one thing you can say about twato is that he'll get stuck in, won't hide, and will get involved. He's a scrapper, and we've not got many of them.

Chappyblue, muscle is not about winning the ball in the air, its about not being shoved off by players four inches taller and two stone heavier than you. And its not about hoof ball to MDV to flick on to no-one in particular. He traps the ball from chest to ground and plays it off.

My only worry - actually one of my many worries - about this team would be the overall size... bunch of midgets! But that is a problem we have with our squad - the players we have that are a bit more physical are also a bit donkey-like, so it's hard to decide which way to go.
