I don't understand the above comments at all. I note they are said with some conviction, so I don't doubt the sincerity behind them.

But why won't MM invest in the plaing squad immediately?, I'd be surprised if we don't have 5 new players (loan or signed) by the end of January.

Surely he has to invest immediately, I don't understand why people think he won't be investing properly for 2 years

spot on hes already said he wants to try and have a go this season, Hence why he wants to be in by the transfer window

That is precisely what i meant, sorry if it did not come across that way. i feel that the incentive is there to invest right away not to waite or spread the cost over a number of years.
I know what you meant 58, and I agree. I was referring to some posts earlier in the thread that say he won't be investing for a couple of years. Whilst I won't dismiss the comments because they seemd confident in their statements, I just don't understand where they come from.

If you look back at Portsmouth's history under Mandaric, he splashed out twice: when he first took over and under Redknapp's first spell. The rest of the time, Portsmouth was close to self-funding and Redknapp's second spell was funded by Gaydamak.

Thus, for us, I reckon, if he takes over and if he's going to invest, it'll be over this next year.

If this goes through I can't see MM hanging around before investing in the squad. He seems keen to get a deal done before Jan. Maybe 2/3 in Jan with more coming in during the summer for a real push next season would, I suspect, be his tactic.

When was the last time we found a transfer window exciting. The chance to bring some 'decent' players in is an appetising thought.

MM will invest in January.

Looks the most likely scenario.

But then, who are we to second guess someone like MM? :icon_bigg

Redknapp has always been a manager that likes to buy lots of players. He did teh same at West Ham.

We could do with 2/3 good quality attacking players, not 6/7.

At West Ham, believe it or not, he was paid a commission by the club on all transfers in and out. Guess what - he bought and sold dozens of players.

Micky Adams must have had a similar clause with the proviso players were over 30

Barry Fry would be better at that than 'Arry!
