Your mad if you dont claim via the insurer IMO, they will still screw you at renewal whether they pay or not plus theres all the hassle.

Ok not so bad then. You lose 2 years for a claim, so being as your on one, you will only revert back to 0 years NCD. As I remember from a little stint in the insurance trade, you get 10% discount per year in years 1-4 as long as you don't claim. Once you hit 4 years you can have it protected and your are no longer entitled to any discount as you have the maximum discount available. Therefore IMO your policy shouldn't increase anywhere near the amount you may have to settle privately if you decide to do this. I would let the insurance company deal with it, and shop around on your renewal.

Check the terms of your no claims. Some insurers allow so many knocks before you lose your N.C.B.

No it doesn't, 4 years NCB doesnt even half the premium. Your 2 years is worth 20% advertised discount and probably less in real terms.

ok, let me re-phrase. One years no claims + a year older reduced my premium by half the last time i renewed. This was depite moving to braunstone!

Definatly, though it is perfectly acceptable not to bother if you are the Renault garage on St Margarets way, meaning that your tyres get ruined in a matter of months.
