I wouldn't mind signing Dorus De Vries from Swansea as he is out of contract, would provide competition for Weale.

I've heard that his Uncle Mark is a better player. Couldn't we sign him?

Or better still leave it all for a bit. There are about 500 ex-league players out of work now. Probably most much of a muchness. Loads of scope to fill the ranks with the best of the frees rather than waste Milan's money. There is a recession on you know.

I'd guess we may start pre season with a couple on trial?

Anyone glanced at todays Mockery yet:102:

The sports headlines are translated to be " following the Burnley blueprint "

In my years of following club and its antics, i would suggest that Mandy is sending a message to the supporters about any substantial signings.

Basically we wont be splashing the cash.

The article's the opinion of a lecturar at Leicester University......:icon_roll

Just done some research Burnley spent £3 million last summer.

Like i say, there is more than one way to get the message out.
The last person that is going to admit it, is Mandy himself.

If you think Mandy is going to put his hands in his pockets, then you could well be disappointed :icon_wink

Point is the Burnley blueprint still incurs 3 million plus. Coyle's spent in the region of 5million in his management reign.

I think you are reading far too much into it. The Mercury is desperate for something to put on its back page and so turns to a "football academic." at Leicester University. Why Leicester University pays a football academic I don't know since Talking Balls has dozens of them for free.
Today they have found someone who used to play with Chris Weale. Desperate times indeed for the back page.

So Nige tells us mongies that he has got to spend wisely. Well what a shock hey, just what Mandy told you through the media weeks ago.
Basically he does not have the dosh. Not saying its or good or bad thing, but just bemused by the fact that people couldnt see through it.

With respect, BB, I'm not sure anyone thought we were going to be throwing tens of millions at it this season.

Did they?

I'm sure some did.

But BB still seems to think the John Williams article came from Milan, when it was nothing more than the Mockery trying to fill space by getting a quote from a well known football 'expert', as they have done many times before, since well before MM came to the club.

No i'm sure they did not.

My point is, that Mandy knew he couldnt throw money at it, and in a time of trying to sell season tickets, it wouldnt be clever for him to admit his lack of funds. So imo he softened the blow by using an independant source to get his message out via the Mockery.

Its all about opinions :)

I think Milan feeds the press with stories about how we bid for players but were turned down.We may well bid for players but our offers are probably laughable however MM can still say that we tried to get so and so in and it pleases the fans. Those of us who aren't cynical and pessimistic that is.I would suspect MM is a bot wary of throwing much more money at the club after seeing the money he's thrown at it before go down the shitter, like I said since he took over have we sold on any of the signings and made a profit ? I don't think we have and there have been some truly awful signings
