Murphy would be a fantastic signing...a good scoring midfielder and a great free kick taker....would be imo our best signing if it happens

I would really love him to dign, he would improve the team as a creative unit and tel us supporters he is right behind MA (unless its another manager that wants him !)

this would be a major coup as i still think Murphy is good enough for the premiership.

If the other teams interested are Wigan and Bolton i think we've got a chance. He and his missus are fans of the capital and it's lifestyle so will not want to head back up North. He could commuted to Leicester from the big smoke though.

Would he rather warm the bench at Tottenham or be a superstar for us? Has he got any ambition? If so, surely there's only one choice for him. And for his missus, well, we've got Primark, Matalan, BHS, Woolies.........

Wilkinsons will clinch it.

Hum... join Bolton, who are reportedly interested Or join a team that finished in the bottom third of the championship for two years running and is in the middle of a will he won't he go fight with their manager: that's a tough one.

...and is in the middle of a will he won't he go fight with their manager

Thing is, apart from the gossip, innuendo and speculation we don't actually know that this is the case.

Shame it's not going to tho'.

He has the choice of two clubs who are in the premiership and might stay there. At this stage of his career he is not going to take the very outside chance that we are promoted this year. Milan has money but is not likely to pay the excessive amount which would 'force' Murphy to drop down a league.

They had no choice but to drop a league, no premiership clubs were interested

Maybe, but still doesn't change the fact that Milan (if the stories are true!) WOULD have paid the higher wages for them (JFH and RF) so why not for DM.

But JFH and RF only had interest from Championship clubs which does give us an edge, with Murphy it is different IMO we don't stand a chance if we are in direct competiton with the likes of Bolton and Wigan as they can offer Premiership football and wages plus the added bonus of a relegation release clause.

Spot on - I also think that Milan saw acquiring JFH as a bit of a marketing ploy.

Murphy is a serious player but hardly a big name....but in any case he wouldn't sign for us and I think your point about a relegation release clause is very apt. An attractive proposition for a player who can move on quickly and attract another big signing fee,

is it gonna happen before Friday????[/QUOTE said:
No. The reasons have been stated:
1. Not high profile enough for MM
2. Murphy has reported Prem interest
3. Soares is pure speculation
