Brown is a good leader and is respected (or feared, if you prefer) by the other players. The only problem is he isn't that great a player and time isn't on his side. If it wasn't for chocolate knees, Tunchev would have kept him out of the side. Hopefully that will be the case next season.

Hobbs may be a captain of the future but I wouldn't want anything to distract him from doing his job. He'd be one of those 'lead by example' captains for now, he seems a bit quiet to me.

I think Wellens would be in with a shout. The armband might reduce his yellow card rate too.

Good shout.

Tunch is captain on my FM game, his influence rating is like 16 or something. Just throwing that out there.

Why not just find out who can plug their sofa into Aberdeen, or something?

Even if we did, the player in question would struggle to dislodge the pickled onion playing at right back.

I think Berner would be a good shout for the immediate future but longer term then it definetely has to be Jack Hobbs without a doubt.

Oakley's been effective captain over the two seasons - seeing us with a chance of consecutive promotions.

Si non confectus, non reficiat.

We should have kept Theo Zagorakis. Or as Plato once said on the subject:

Έλληνες αεί παίδες.

Out of interest why all the shouts for Hobbs? We have no idea what he is like as a character on or off the pitch, and being a good player isn't always enough, though like Jeff said the role of captain really is trivial now.

3rd choice captain currently (started against Cardiff wearing the captain's armband) and Pearson has been quoted as saying he's a future captain.

I would pick Hobbs because his name is easy to shout and would make good chants. He's also got a nicely shaven chest and knows how to stimulate a man's sack with his nimble tongue.

"Hobbs, Hobbs, Hobbs!" - a chant fit for a captain. I could bloody kiss the bloke. Fandabbytastic.

"Brown, Brown, Brown!" would alienate the large diversity of ethnicities from where we generate much of our merchandising revenue. This would result in unrest in our communities and a rise in petty crime. Bad idea.

"Oakley, Oakley, Oakley!" would mean that the BBC would not be able to broadcast our games due to the advertising implications of the chants being associated with the fancy dan glasses manufactured by the company of the same name i.e. Oakley - this COULD impact our income massively and we would not be able to afford to pay DJs wages when he gets recalled and we would have to leave him at Blackpool and our dreams would be scuppered!

Hobbs it is.
