Would Ian Holloway come after the last debacle when he wanted to come? I would love to see him here mind - but would he just be another Martin Allen?
I'd like to see Paul Jewell as manager. Wouldn't mind Joe Royle as at least he'd have us playing attacking football. I don't buy Taggart and Walshie instilling passion for the club though. Most players are mercenary these days unless they're local products.
No - all players are mercenaries - because they are paid professionals and will take any better opportunity that arises.
Most of the alleged loyalty of times gone by was because players were then shackled by contractual arrangements that were not tolerated in other sectors.
I wanted Dowie but as many of you have pointed out one major point is that he is as you say "dis-loyal."
I know I'm taking this out of context slightly, but I don't think we should be looking for a new manager who counts helping Megson do quite well at West Brom amongst thier career highlights. After resigning he became assistant manager of West Brom were he contributed to two promotions to the premiership.

IMO the best solution would be to give Burrows a bit more time to prove himself. He himself has just a CV as the rest of the rumoured candidates:
Became the Pompey manager in 1979.
Record:
G W L D
Portsmouth 01-05-1979 01-05-1982 138 61 38 39
Then left to become the Sunderland assistant manager. Shortly after he became the Cardiff manager.
Record:
Cardiff 21-05-1986 31-08-1989 166 64 54 48
Led Cardiff to promotion. Fell out with the board and became the Pompey assistant manager. Then got re-appointed after Gregory departed. Only lasted a year after being sacked for poor results.
Record:
Portsmouth 23-01-1990 13-03-1991 60 20 23 17
Frank then became the new manager of Swansea. Here he was manager for four years. Left after falling out with the board.
Record:
Swansea 23-03-1991 31-07-1995 230 85 81 64
He moved on to work under Redknapp as a coach for West Ham. After a short stint he left to go back to Cardiff as manager. Led them to promotion, again. But resigned after Cardiff were in the relegation zone.
Record:
Cardiff 16-02-1998 01-02-2000 107 36 37 34
After resigning he became assistant manager of West Brom were he contributed to two promotions to the premiership.
This man is experienced at almost any level bar the Premiership. Wouldn't suprise me if this man gets the job or atleast a chance; give him a couple of weeks/games
Fans were worried last week that he was going to Norwich or maybe MM hasnt offerred him the job.
I think Mandaric will go for either Dowie or Davies. Both managers with proven records at this level, I don't think MM has the time or inclination to take a chance on a upcoming manager like Grayson.
It is rumoured that Dowie is set to quit at any time.
Whilst Davies is increasingly unsettled at Derby and with Peter Gadsby leaving (he is Davies staunchest supporter), Davies now believes his time is up and according to rumour has applied for the City job.
If true then there shouldnt even be a shortlist.
Nail, head, hit.....I'm afraid.
i forgot about billy davies
there is a prerss conf today at derby.
What time?
