I don't get the decision at all. If it's a free kick, it has to be a sending off. A yellow card doesn't make sense at all to me

Full credit to our fans last night for letting the ref know what they thought of that decision, I think he might have sent Hendo off had the crowd not reacted. We will be needing a lot more of that at home games if we are to put in a serious challenge next year.

bollox the fans shouting make no difference to the refs decision, he just didnt have a feckin scooby what he was doing and realised after giving the foul he had probably fecked up so had to book him to back it up or the leeds players would have gone mad at him. The injury made him book him imo.

Totally agree we need to put more pressure on officials at home, plenty of outrage at opposition challenges even if they aren't that bad.

Sporting - no, but our ground is not as hostile as many in our division

I sit in the middle of the Kop. At the time, I didn't think it was a foul. Having seen the picture in today's Mercury* and the clip on YouTube, I don't see that there can be any doubt that the ref's decision was entirely correct.

*No - they haven't started delivering the Mercury to Kent - I stayed in Leicester overnight.

I only caught a glimpse of it on tele tonight, and my impression was that he played the ball. Was it cynical Boc:102:

He did play the ball. He also put his knee into the side of the bloke's head.

But if he played the ball first whilst he was in the air, then is that not classed as gaining leverage to obtain height. I'm not taking the pee its just that when people get done for using the elbow, then there can be a fine line between foul play and the motion needed to gain height to win the ball.

Law 12 - Fouls & Misconduct

Direct Free Kick

A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following offences in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:
  • kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
  • jumps at an opponent

There's nothing there to say it is OK to kick an opponent or jump at an opponent as long as you make contact with the ball first. Have a look at the video yourself - and then tell me honestly what you think.

Is there a link for it ?

On the brief clip that i saw i couldn't see what the fuss was about. To me he looked like he simply knocked the ball away and the Leeds player was just unlucky enough to be in his path. Btw i'm not disputing this, just simply from first impression i didn't see where it was a free kick

Watch Henderson's right knee in the replay. A central defender would be penalised for jumping and putting a player out like that - no reason it should be any different for a keeper.

You can also laugh at the Leeds keeper afterwards.

Watched it several times and imo i don't believe he deliberately took out their player. Tbh though i can see both sides of the debate, but i don't think either way would totally convince me to whether it was right or wrong:)

The Law says nothing about 'deliberate' - it talks about 'careless' and 'reckless'.

Fecking hell just watched the Holiday Inn Roof blowing off video, from that link that you posted.
Looked a lot worse than I imagined.

I looked at that too - and then tried to count the times I had walked over that very spot. Scary!!!

Have you seen the grooves that it scratched into the block paving?

No haven't noticed.
The bit where it all lands is directly where my turnstile entrance is, imagine if it had been a matchday - would have been chaos.

Point is.. he didn't jump at the opponent.. the opponent got in the way.. and hendo needed that knee up to get the height.. it was probably a case of brave attacking by the Leeds player. I can't see anything wrong with it at all.

But then you're not biased , are you?:icon_wink

I've always wondered why goalkeepers need to raise their knees to 'get the height' when the same doesn't seem to apply to outfield players. There was no need for Henderson's leg to be up there - he was careless, he was reckless. The suggestion that he didn't jump at an opponent is nonsense. There is no such thing as a 'legal follow-through' as so many players and fans seem to think there is. The referee got it exactly right.
