Global warming - what global warming

You're getting close to a yellow card DV, I'm not following your line of reasoning here at all.

So Venus has a lot of CO2 and is 2nd closest planet to the Sun, how does this relate to human arrogance that we might be influencing our own climate?

carbon dioxide reflects infra-red and causes a greenhouse effect

humans produce carbon dioxide through burning fossil fuels

if carbon dioxide is increasing in an atmosphere, the greenhouse effects of the gas will increase too

Oh right, the hypersimplistic-scare-the-sheeple-into-submission argument.

Sorry, but I still don't see what relevance Venus has with any of it.

you asked for clarification...
but now it's "hyper-simplistic"
:icon_roll

try attacking the argument...

then you don't know much about Venus or the greenhouse effect

Warming and cooling is proven to be a naturally occuring cycle perhaps controlled by Sun spot activity.

But cut all the trees down turning vast areas of the tropics into desert and we will quickly by f$$ked.

Us in the temperate zones are ignorant cos it's not happening on our doorsteps, while professors get rich writing whitepapers on the effects of chicken farming and global warming

That's the problem, and a theory I've always followed.

Trees consume CO2, cut them down, the CO2 is no longer being consumed.

Simple.

while professors get rich writing whitepapers on the effects of chicken farming and global warming

you've not met many professors have you?

There are, as yet, undiscovered tribes of Amazonian Indians that are aware of the greenhouse effect.

It is hyper-simplistic, and arrogant, to argue that the greenhouse effect is solely responsible for global warming.
It is also hyper-simplistic, and arrogant, to argue that human beings are the sole cause of increasing CO2 levels.

and you still haven't explained the relevance of Venus to the argument.

The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has increased exponentially in recent (last 200 years) times. Check this graph out from the IPCC 4th annual report on climate change. Humans are causing increase in CO2 in the atmosphere which will heat the planet. This will affect the UK in the next 10-20 years. Don't buy a house in East Anglia its f*cked.
