A question for those who would see Pearson sacked

That isn't a problem if a bit of common sense is applied. Give him a full season, if he hasn't achieved his objective, which is clearly to win promotion, and we haven't looked as though we are making progress towards achieving that aim (finishing outside the top six, for instance) then say goodbye. If we go up then great, if we don't but we go close it's probably sensible to give him another shot at it.

It seems quite simple to me. Unless we look like we're going down getting rid of a manager at this stage, or indeed at the stage at which Eriksson was sacked, is bloody madness. A manager is given a budget and an aim for a football season. Until the achievement of those aims becomes impossible, or at least looks extremely unlikely, we should let them get on with it. No such judgement can be made after six matches of a season.

I think most people's panic and frustration stems from not knowing how long the Thai's are willing to back a losing horse. If we miss out this season they could quite easily call it a day. If they're prepared to give it more time, I think most fans would be a lot more patient.

I understand what you are saying, but I doubt it.

Gregs-what has signing a Rotherham reject done for the strengthening of your squad.I imagine he will be on 2.5=5k per week. Why?
You are genuinely expected to be front runners .Blackburn sign Rhodes and you sign Pearson Junior.
I think Pearson has shown no respect to Hull and I think the signing of his son shows what he really thinks about your fans and the money they are spending during a recession.
You are a career move which at present is not clear if up or down.
Signing his son is a way of leaving (if reqd) with as much of your money crammed into his family bank account as possible.
Some of our best players this season were out of favour with NP.I doubt he could handle a Bellamy /Keane personality and- whilst I wouldn"t choose to sit down to dinner with either-top teams need top players and your owners are paying top dollar for lads who merely won"t rock the boat.

Who have we paid top dollar for? Have we signed somebody without me knowing?

The problem with this approach, is that, should he fail to win promotion, why not give him the next, and the next season?

Surely it is easier to judge whether a manager can get you promoted after the season has finished - as in where you have finished. Rather than guessing six games in?

If after the season had finished we are nowhere near promotion then the owners will have to look at if NP is up to the job. If we lose in the play off finals why not give him another season? My point is we can't tell what wil happen until we give somebody a proper crack at it!

Believe me Willers=if you are paying Pearson the junior 50p a week that is top dollar for a south yorkshire reject.
Is Beckford a low earner? Is he rubbish or is he disillusioned by a restrictive ,controlling unrealistic regime(see Capello"s bubbly world cup squad to see when too much of a strait jacket is applied on young men)

I think the fans would be more patient if there wasn't such expectation around us. When we were managed by the likes of Levein and Kelly, to my memory at least, the team wasn't being booed off the pitch at half time for not putting in title winning performances. They (we, I suppose) were happy enough to see a bit of effort and anything other than a relegation struggle. T

The local media, the owners, the manager and the players all have to share responsibility for the dissatisfaction of the supporters when things aren't going as they themselves say they should be. As do we for buying into it all, clearly. This pre-season alone we have had Wes Morgan talking about us challenging to be top of the league come May, the owners have made clear that they want promotion and Pearson has agreed to this aim. So when that doesn't look like materialising of course the fans will be annoyed and they are entitled to voice their discontent. It sometimes seems as though people are desperate to blame the supporters for the woes of the club and it's bollocks.

Of course we have a role to play ourselves; we should be supporting the club and doing what we can to create an atmosphere conducive to success. But it works both ways. We only react to what we see. I didn't boo myself on Wednesday night but I can well understand why others did and I won't berate them for it. It was as bad a performance as some in our relegation season and when we're constantly told we're a club with ambitions for promotion we are perfectly entitled to be upset about displays such as that. Our fans are no worse than those of other clubs in similar situations.

Your recent posts have been very good, by the way. I don't agree with their sentiment but at least you are making coherent arguments. Keep it up; it's nice to have well expressed views from fans of other clubs.

The kid is part of the academy team and won't be on anywhere near the figure you made up.

Thanks to You and Han I've taken him off ignore. Change of character, or has he been bodysnatched by half intelligent aliens?

I think the signing of James Pearson is a complete red-herring and not pertinent to the debate on Nigel Pearson's future. He was signed on a free and will likely never get anywhere near the first-team squad. A similar signing to Jacob Blythe and his name is not being mentioned. I highly doubt that a player brought in to play in the Development squad is on 2.5-5K a week.

However, Cafe does make other good points (not necessarily in general but in this thread). Relatively speaking we have spent a lot of money this season. It is certainly questionable as to whether 3 million pounds on De Laet, James and Vardy is money well spent.

Nige is capable of maintaining a sequence of good results when he gets the ball rolling. The problem is,just as last year with us,he let the other teams get too far ahead before he started the chase. With your spending and the players available it seems incredible that most of you seem to think the play offs would represent success.
Blackburn,Wolves and yourselves should be steamrollering the opposition.
Nige seems to thrive with little known players and achieving above expectations. This is not your situation.

If ever proof were needed that there is always hope then this is it.
