Why isn't he training with us?

Why isn't he training with us?

Dunno - but it could be because the club don't want to treat him as our player. They're talking about it being 'no deal' if they don't get the FIFA approval. But that really is my left-of-field conjecture.

I wasn't thinking this earlier. If the deal didn't get sanctioned by FIFA, is he our player? I know people have been saying he's our player but can't play until January, but is that the case? Have we actually completed the signing?

You can sign a player at anytime really, it's only during the windows that you can register players.

Seems like we are saying if we can't register him now then we aren't signing him but Sporting seem to be saying no, the transfer has happened and not our problem you can't register him.

Tbf to our backroom team I don't think they have done anything wrong here, you only have to look at the mess with Carvalho to see how difficult it is trying to deal with their chairman!

If the problem emanates from Lisbon, then they need to sort this out. We are probably doing right by Mr Silva and not disrupting his family until this mess is sorted out.

This could all be fixed if we just cancel his contract, travel back in time to the day before the transfer window closed, buy out his Sporting contract, and sign him on loan before the deadline.

Easy.

I wondered whether we could kill him, have him immediately reincarnated as exactly the same version on his current self (by almighty dog) and then sign him, as he would be a different person and therefore a free agent. But I'm not that sure on the legality of this.

Apparently it's against FIFA rules. Under these circumstances, not only can he not play for us, he can't train with us either.
Heard this on the radio on my way home tonight, but I expect someone with a better understanding of these rules will come along and contradict/elaborate in a minute.

That would only be applicable had we killed him before the end of the transfer window

So pretty much completely against freedom of movement and European employment law

Can he play right back?
