Last season's Player of the Year and joint Players' Player of the Year, Michael has been a dominant force in the heart of Pools' defence since joining the Club in the summer of 2003 and has become one of the most respected players in League One.

He made a move to Bury from Bishop Auckland in 2001 having enjoyed a successful trial period and went on to become a fans' favourite at Gigg Lane.

On the opening day of the 2003/2004 campaign, Nelson strode forward to blast home a 30-yard blockbuster to give Pools a 4-3 win at Peterborough - he's never looked back since.

He is aggressive in the tackle and superb in the air, he was one of Pools' most consistent performers throughout last season, winning numerous man-of-the-match awards for his commanding displays at the heart of defence

As with Gradel, if he stays, here is a known performer in this League. :102:

I know absolutely nothing about this guy from Hartlepool but he is exactly the sort of player that we should be looking at. He is a proven performer at this level and will no doubt have the hunger to want to improve and step up a level. More proven league one players is what we need. Add to them the odd Clemence or Oakley and we will do fine. Have a team crammed full of the Howard's and DJ's of this world and I predict another lousy season on the horizon.

Agree completely.

From the sounds of him, I'd rather have him than Darren Moore certainly. Want hungry players who are good at this level, and want the opportunity to move up to a bigger club.

If Darren Moore came he'd surely see it as a great contract, for what he'd probably expect to be an easy run in L1

Always more worrying when listed as "Various" as well.

I'd hope for more than £2m, even if it is unrealistic.... we don't NEED to sell him.

the problem is if they want to leave Milan won't stand in his way, this league could be ideal for Mattock to really grow as a player, a first team player at league one club Leicester or a Reserve player at Everton?

Agreed Spanky, hopefully we won't sell him, or we get to keep him for a season-long loan?

Alex, if we had kept Stearman and hopefully keep mattock they this league could have really made them good, because of the fact its all rough and tough they would have grown there overall game, Stearman pussied out and i hope Mattock stays

He is only 17 so this is his chance to really play a full season and get tougher in the league, I can see Mattock as a future England Left-back, let hope he stays we go up in one attempt and then can afford to keep him here
