More my favourite 11 from the years I've been going down ('87 onwards) than technically the best 11

Poole

Mills
Walsh
Elliott
Grayson

Wright
Izzet
McAllister
Oldfield

Roberts
Claridge

Subs
McAuley
Rooster
Parker
Ramsey
Joachim

Cant believe Jim Melrose doesnt seem to get a mention. Him and Alan Young were a good pairing. Mike Newell should get a mention aswell. Always gave 110%. Not Leicester greats but deserve more praise than some that have been nominated!!

Banks
Chalmers Norman

Maclintock King Appleton

Riley Walsh Keyworth Gibson Stringfellow

Yes I am old.
And Yes these all played together.

This was the best 'TEAM'. Not necessarily the best players in each position to make up a fantasy.

Age is all relative Floppus.

Unfortunately, I can nominate a slightly earlier team to take on yours:

Anderson

Milburn
Cunningham

King(J)
Froggatt (Capt)
Appleton (he will have to play for both of us)

Griffiths
Morris (J)
Hines
Rowley
Hogg

Francis Prior

Carenza Lewis
John Gater
Margaret Cox
Stewart Ainsworth

Phil Harding
Robin Bush
Dr Henry Chapman
Guy de la Bedoyere

Tony Robinson
Mick Aston

And yes I know that Harding is more of a striker, but he'll just have to play on the wing - you can't split up the Aston/Robinson partnership up front

This lad Guy de la Bedoyere - we didn't need foreign muck like that when Big Arthur was scoring 40 goals a season. What are you about Homer?

He never plays in position as well, he's always Roman all over the pitch...

We have to have some creativity in the team - you know perfectly well that Bush and Chapman are just 'stoppers'. The goals will be created from the flair players on the flanks

Harding a flair player, you must be joking.Anyone with half an idea of the game knows that Harding is nothing but a Grafter.

My Dad claims he invented the slide tackle. I reckon it's a load of bollocks.

My Dad is always claiming he invented stuff as well Hazz, but he's full of shit the drunken old fool

Manager though I'd love to say Jock Wallace I have to go with MON.

Jock Wallace? You've obviously been listening to his own publicity... I recall that we did well in the Cup under JW, but didn't he bring us up, then back down again??

I tend to agree with...

fan power drove Jimmy Bloomfield out in favour of Frank McClintock who got us relegated. Sadly Jimmy died shortly afterwards and so never knew how well he and his team are remembered.

... that Bloomfield's was a class team; and let's not forget O'Farrell, either, please.

tbf Peggy is a certain pick.

And Collymore's 5 goals in 11 games gets him in.

Darren Eadie gets a special spot thanks to having more injuries than goals.

- I just checked how many times he scored for us, 2 in 40 games, jesus christ.

With the great players and great names that I am far too young to have ever seen grace a City shirt I feel unable to enter a team to this thread. I know we all span the generations on this forum but seeing one team with the names of David Nish, Keith Weller and Colin Appleton and then another team with the names of Ben Thatcher, Theo Zagarakis and Stan Collymore just doesn't seem right.

I notice a lot of you have opted for Gordon Banks in goal. My Dad always say's that Shilton was a much better keeper and he has never forgiven Banks for 'costing' us the Cup Final in 63 against United. He is also a massive fan of Jackie Sinclair. Do any of you more experienced posters have any thoughts on this?
