Bars with food - urgent!

Dear all,
(I am aware of the Lazzers thread which is restaurant orientated -this thread is about bars...)

4 work colleagues (all guys, so we can be spared the tedium of politically correct talk in front of others) are going for a post work drink TODAY with food - we'll get there about 6.15pm. What bar that has food on can you recommend that isn't dead at this time (on a Friday)

Nothing fancy - but nothing too appalling either (I can get that at home
CRITERIA. The place MUST fit the following:
-food: budget about £8 (+drinks)
-location: city centre, narborough rd, braunstone gate, demontfort uni area
-reasonably lively, not dead early evening (on a Friday)

Cheap food and drinks in the highcross, last plantagenet or lloyds bar (no I don't work in advertising for weatherspoons!) but I'd go to the globe, good cheap food and a nice pint.

I haven't been to the globe (Silver st I think) in years (Biffers suggestion) - might give that a try. Btw, where is llyods bar? And your other suggestion what/where is 'the highcross'?

Fat Cats Belvoir - food reasonable price , Ale is a bit pricey, will be full of office type cods head early doors though
