As it's kind of a speculation thread I thought I'd throw in my thoughts on who this may have been: Jonathan Woodgate!

He fits the bill! Needs game time to get back to full fitness and match sharpness and we needed a consistent centre half.

The last thing we now need at this part of the season is injury prone defenders who 'need' game time..... at the mo we are doing well enough, and what's the point in getting a crock in when we've just sent a decent enough 'sub' out on loan.

You mean the 2 players who Sven identifies as existing players being offered new deals? King and Wellens I'd imagine.

My guess would be Wellens and Gallagher, looking at their current contracts. It's already been mentioned that Wellens is looking over a new offer.
