I'm sure that Pearson knows best but none of the combinations of Sharp/ Nugent; Sharp/ Beckford nor Beckford/Nugent looks a particularly obvious match in terms of a target man/ someone feeding off the target man. Of course if Steve Howard was a few years younger then things might be different. When I've watched us this season I've normally wondered how and where the goals are going to come from. Can't help thinking that the lack of guile and power from midfield is the main issue.

From what I have heard, NP will get fairly decent backing this window, and so there's no reason that with the signing of two decent wingers (one of which sounds like it will be Stewart), we aren't far away from a squad that's capable of pushing towards the play-offs.

Once a striker is brought in, whether Billy Sharp or not, Beckford will be out of here fast. Nevermind what Nigel says about supporting him. He isn't going to put up with a player who makes no effort any more than his team mates will.

Not compulsory I agree - but tends to be a widely used ploy if other tactics aren't working and/ or well used in route 1 football which seems to work as well as anything else at this level.
