There are two expressions. "White elephant", and "elephant in the room". You've combined the two, and I don't think you know what either means.
One is about money Jeff i.e usually referred to a jumble sale, the other is an unwillingness to see a glaring fault, in this instance both apply, since winning the league our acquisitions have been poor and we have managers who are refusing to mix things up AKA Shakey

It's the techno mouse in the room Jeff. The purple flamingo. The Himalayan ostrich. No one talks about it...because they aren't expressions.

We may not have the personnel to play 4-4-2 but what's to say we have the right players for a 3-5-2? I agree we should try it but a midfield of Ndidi, Iborra and King or Amartey looks dreadfully lacking in any creativity whatsoever. I just don't think we have good enough players in this area full stop.

I guess the point is that we won't know until we try of course.

From Wiki:

"A white elephant is a possession which its owner cannot dispose of and whose cost, particularly that of maintenance, is out of proportion to its usefulness. The term derives from the story that the kings of Siam, now Thailand, were accustomed to make a present of one of these animals to courtiers who had rendered themselves obnoxious, in order to ruin the recipient by the cost of its maintenance. In modern usage, it is an object, building project, scheme, business venture, facility, etc., considered expensive but without use or value."

So a bit like handing Mark McGhee over to Wolves

Personally we should really be playing a 4-5-1

Just sack the interim manager who unfathomably is still here supported by the Oxford United manager (at least one of them has some management experience...it just isn't working).

When it fell out of the tree it scared itself silly, causing loss of pigment and it has looked this white colour ever since.
So there is a tree in the room. Is that the real problem?
