He was born in Japan, he was eligble to play for Japan. He chose North Korea. Why shouldn't he be judged for being a part of the vile mob who prop Kim-Jung Il up? Being eligible to play and having a chance of being picked are 2 totally different things, if North Korean offered me a place in their World Cup team I'd take it (if I was eligible) since I have no chance of playing for any of the national teams I am eligible for. Plenty of people play for teams in regimes that they don't agree with and it isn't as if he has any power to change North Korea. Sven made a trip to meet the North Korean regime and discuss the option to be their team manager, should we treat him like a criminal as well?

PS. Are you sure King, Hughes and Bowyer have stopped commiting their crimes, at least one of them has 15 seperate offences over a number of years.

Let's take the other view here than maybe he was emotional because he never thought he'd be on such a stage achieving a boyhood dream due to his origin. Maybe he knows his country is a disgrace but he was trying to prove that not all North Koreans were communist murderers.You joke but a substantial of the North Korean players were sentenced to hard labour after the World Cup.
