Talk about an overreaction - I was trying to convey (not very well admittingly) that that incident capped off a truly gash performance

This is a fella who was so overwhelmed at the opportunity to represent a state where millions are kept starving as slave labour, the slightest sign if dissendence gets you a short life sentence in a salt mine, which constantly threatens its neighbours with nuclear armageddon, and occassionally kidnaps, tortures and brainwashes the odd foreign citizen - that he broke down in tears. Despite the fact that he wasn't even born there.

Frankly, I'd rather have Marlon King, Lee Hughes and Lee Bowyer on the books

So you would rather have convicted criminals on the books than someone who has done nothing wrong other than get rather emotional at reaching the highest possible level of his career?

He was born in Japan, he was eligble to play for Japan. He chose North Korea. Why shouldn't he be judged for being a part of the vile mob who prop Kim-Jung Il up? He certainly will be being showered with all of the favour that the regime can offer on his visits, favours that are bought off the back of the slavery of the country's people. How on earth is that ok?

At least King, Hughes and Bowyer have been punished, and stopped doing their crimes.

Being eligible to play and having a chance of being picked are 2 totally different things, if North Korean offered me a place in their World Cup team I'd take it (if I was eligible) since I have no chance of playing for any of the national teams I am eligible for. Plenty of people play for teams in regimes that they don't agree with and it isn't as if he has any power to change North Korea. Sven made a trip to meet the North Korean regime and discuss the option to be their team manager, should we treat him like a criminal as well?

PS. Are you sure King, Hughes and Bowyer have stopped commiting their crimes, at least one of them has 15 seperate offences over a number of years.

His parents are North Koreans or consider themselves North Korean, he went to a school for North Koreans. Let's take the other view here than maybe he was emotional because he never thought he'd be on such a stage achieving a boyhood dream due to his origin. Maybe he knows his country is a disgrace but he was trying to prove that not all North Koreans were communist murderers. You joke but a substantial of the North Korean players were sentenced to hard labour after the World Cup.
