As far as the game is concerned - overall it surely wasn't a looker.
For some reason our team adopted the traditional English style of play - long balls towards Rudonja, who, surprisingly, managed to outrun the defensemen on several occasions, one of them resulting in a nice goal. A quick counterattack, the ball came to Pavlin, who sent it into space, Rudonja got to it first at the top of the box, tapped it to the keeper's left, while he ran around him and just gently placed it into the net.
Due to the lack of some serious excitement the absolute star of the first half was the ref, who on one occasion sent off a Leicester player (#9) for arguing or maybe standing too close to the ball as Pavlin set up to take a freekick near the centre of the pitch. Both the Leicester bench and Olimpija's players protested loudly (the play was stopped for about five minutes) and as a result of that the player was allowed to return to the pitch. Simply priceless, the ref was utterly useless (felt a bit like watching the World Cup where exotic refs who probably never kicked a football in their lives end up at the biggest matches ).
The second half began with a cold shower for the home fans (around 700 people attended the match, which isn't bad at all for a pre-season friendly). As one of our central defenders along with the right back were obviously considering getting a tan instead of keeping their eyes on the ball, a ground ball was launched into our box, ending in a one on one race to the ball between one of your strikers and our goalie (who, at the age of 42, did quite well. His main ambition is to enter the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest goalie in a top division club, currently held by Lazio's Ballotta, I think). The striker was faster by about half a step and managed to nudge the ball into the empty net.
Olimpija wasn't playing with much flair and most of our attempts either ended in a loss of possession somewhere around the middle of the pitch or a -sigh- long ball towards Rudonja. I can easily say that throughout the game Leicester seemed like the more dominant side, not by much, but still. Pavlin had shown some nice moves (backheels, great ball control, one-twos) as he refused to give up the ball even when two or three defenders had him cornered, but he managed to come out on top. One sub was welcomed with a loud applause as Ilija Kitič (also known as Kičo) came on. Just to illustrate, Ilija is a striker. A 6 foot something, 110 kilo striker with some serious futsal skills He displayed those quite nicely, with defenders bouncing off him like flies. Even your coach couldn't help himself and bursted into laughter as one of your midfielders broke the longjump record when he desperately tried to stop Kičo.
Leicester's second goal was scored after a nice find from the left flank, a cross was sent into the box, the striker was positioned somewhere around the penalty spot as our defenders obviously completely forgot about their job (again). A left-footed placed shot that went in just by the far post and it was 1:2.
Olimpija didn't want to end up being the losing side and tried to apply some pressure. One of our attacks ended with a corner kick from which Pavlin took a direct shot at goal and scored. I think the goalie simply didn't expect such a shot as he got a touch on the ball, but he only managed to confirm the goal as it went in at the near post.
That's about it
