The Boc account sounds all too likely to be true.

Sousa is seen as marketable because of his past association with big clubs and major trophies - Pearson not so.

Sousa is a football coach whilst Pearson wants to run the full football business - transfer policy included.

It's a pity that the reality of who is most likely to achieve success in the Championship wasn't taken into account.

And no, I don't see a happy ending like in the movies when Sousa is sacked and Pearson returns. I just see a disappointing season and a missed opportunity.

I wonder if it was down to quality of football? Since Top wants all of our games broadcast, he would understandably want stylish football if we are to have any chance of opening up the market.

Sousa has a Champions League pedigree, is known to employ the same coaching technique as Mourinho, and by reputation has his team passing well.

Unfortunately, we do not have Champions League players or Mourinho's budget, nor are we playing in the top tier. Until all of those are in place I fear that Top is going to be a disappointed man.

Indeed. They are the sort of things that impress people who don't know much about football.

I guess that would be part of the thinking.

I wonder if they took into account that you need stylish players to play stylish football and that this does not necessarily mean a winning team. Quite a number of clubs have tried this - mainly in the Premiership and have won considerable praise from the pundits ........on their way to relegation.

Yes, but if you think small you stay small. If our new owner wants to think big, why should we want to stop him?

Not really - we all want answers

We have gone from being a very solid Championship team which got pipped at the Play-Offs, and for whom the future (for once) looked exceptionally bright, and where (for the first time in ages) the fans seemed to be connecting with both the players and the manager - to a rag-tag bunch of unhappy, apparently uncoached and unfit, rabble of players who look like relegation fodder and who can't defend to save their lives

And yes, I'm aware of how many games we have played, but the contrast is a stark one - it's only normal that, as football fans, we simply want to understand how on earth we have gone from where we were, to where we are now

The answer is not a pretty one

Clever boy.

Twice now Top (or Tom or whatever Birch calls him) has been given a warm wave of applause by the Filbo faithful.

If any of this is true then the next time might not be so warm.

Because we're concerned about the colour of his money? And we worry about sustainability?

I'm not saying I want to stop him, but, let's be realistic, it's not going to happen with the players we have and the money we have to spend.

Let him think as big as he wants. I'm more concerned with what's going on on the pitch.
