Redditch Fox said:Surely £1.5m would be very good business indeed for a player who cost £0.5m a year ago - and this on a falling market. I'm surprised that anyone would pay over £1m.
If this is the case then all it shows is that Wigan felt they had to pay over the odds because they were desparate and Connelly's goals at the start of the season will have boosted his value - last Christmas we would have been lucky to get £300k for him.
IF the club has done the deal at that figure it is because the financial situation dictates - and it allows CL to bring another of his own signings on a longer (and probably cheaper) contract.
IF it is all true then it was a deal that Connelly would have jumped at - i.e. to be on the big TV stage every week - any professional would do that.

Graz said:It doesn't matter how much we bought him for really, it's about how much he's worth now, and much his goals will mean to us this season, and how much a suitable replacement would cost.

Redditch Fox said:Look, you are starting from a different place to where the club and reality is:
1. This is NOT a promotion winning squad anyway - the Board sense this and are not going broke for promotion;
2. CL wants to bring in his own players;
3. On one would have dreamed of paying £1.5m for DC except Wigan who must already realise that they are going down the shute and no established 'stars' at home or abroad want to play for them.
The way back for LCFC is via a longer route and it's going to take 2 to 3 years to re-build in my opinion and they need to be looking at doing this through players on longer contracts - no one knows of course whether the club or the support has the patience for this reality.

depending on who we can replace him withhighland fox said:Agreed IMO 1.5 Million for Connolly is a good deal for us.
