It happens at every club, I happen to think all these players are pants but I am less vocal than others.

De Vries didnt fit the bill for the fans or the club.

His performances against Charlton and Spurs maybe were down to both teams fielding their second choice centre-halfs. He was pretty good against Charlton I must admit.

if you want to look at goal ratios, it would be interesting to compare Claridge, Cottee and Heskey with MDV. none of them were exactly prolific for us, yet the first three were loved by the fans.

MDV had a respectable scoring rate while playing in an awfull team. the others played with what is widely regarded as one of the best city teams ever.

I can remember reading/hearing something saying that Junior Lewis was on 15K a week with us, and I think it was Durham who posted earlier saying that De Vries is on 7K a week. If De Vries is on 7K, that would surely make him one of our highest earners. Lewis was one of our highest earners in our last promotion season.

I can remember reading/hearing something saying that Junior Lewis was on 15K a week with us, and I think it was Durham who posted earlier saying that De Vries is on 7K a week. If De Vries is on 7K, that would surely make him one of our highest earners. Lewis was one of our highest earners in our last promotion season.

I seem to recall that when he joined us he couldn't drive, but that's not to say your story is wrong. What I do remember is that we paid a fair wedge ( £150,000? ) for a player from Gillingam reserves. It would be funny if it were not so tragic.

I seem to remember his first game was Leeds at home, and he was pretty good - never again, unfortunately.
