The price isn't really down to the form we are in or the position we are in,its mainly down to the fact that they haven't took any money for us to go down so they want to 'lay us' get money in for us.Also its partly done on past reputation and the mistaken belief we could buy our way out of trouble.I believe it to be a good price But I don't think we will go down so they won't be getting a farthing of my money

surely form will dictate the amount of cash going on :102:

I've said it before HF, I do admire your loyalty and optimism. You sure do Keep the Faith.

For me its not about faith its just opinion,I've seen every team in the League play a few times and I don't believe we will go down,we need to improve our performances admittedly but not by a great deal we aren't getting hammered.

No-one, as far as I am concerned, has offered any compelling reason to say that sacking CL would improve matters, nor put forward any realistic and desirable candidates (anyone who says 'Mike Newell' is obviously clueless and can be safely ignored). However, I'm pretty sure that the booing, 'Levein Out' etc. are having an adverse effect on confidence and performances. Not that that will stop anyone once they scent blood... have any of these people considered that no-one in their right minds would sign up to manage a club who sacked their manager (shortly after releasing funds for a signing) on the basis of mob rule?

Not that the above nullifies justified criticism of manager, coaches and players. But we've got them for the season, why not give them support?

Too right PB - what I been saying for ages... I hate the fans who are just shouting 'Levine Out...' with no idea of any alternatives of sense...Wise, Gregory, Wilkinson, Walsh, McAllister....? Leave me alone.

Agree with that.

I still think Levein can turn it around here. But my support for him aside objectively (I hope) I can't see any point in changing the manager without having a replacement with the following credentials:

1. Good motivator
2. Has managed in the Championship before
3. Has a relatively good record
4. Cheap

Otherwise I can't see why we'd bother changing. Some people seem to be allowing their dislike for Levein to cloud their judgement. There is no guarantee that if we change the manager that things will get better. Picking someone without the above would just worsen our chances further. Any new manager would have to have instant success which is why someone with experience is important. People such as Kelly, Dublin, Walsh could have luck and turn us around but the chances are very slim. From the above list I can think of few managers who'd fit bill. Bassett maybe, but then again he didn't motivate that well a few years ago when we were relegated, and while he's out of work at the moment his wages might not be very cheap.

The fact that Bassett is the least bad option you can think of demonstrates the point precisely. Other hasbeens/neverweres to conjure with... Reid, Gregory, Kinnear, Venables - dunno about you, but my spine is shuddering already. All those would trouser a nice paycheck too.

Hindsight is wonderful and we should have gone for Martin Allen in the first place!
