Everybody is ruled by sentimentality with Beckham. He is no longer good enough to start. He can still cross a ball, but can no longer beat a player. Football fans who defend Beckham too strongly, just sound like my girlfriend. Can't take their views seriously.

A black bloke with his specks masking taped to his head just took a shit outside the booking office, dipped his hand in it, and then smeared it down our beautiful glass windows.

I've got a feeling the deal might be off.

This might be the worst moment in our history...except the day David Norris pissed through Milan's letter box.

So Edgar Davids isn't coming now, but Beckham is ?

Or have I got it all mixed up again :102:

Who said anything about him starting?

Sorry homer slightly off topic.

Sadly, it's not even that good

Ahh the good old days.

I think we can directly relate the decline of this once great institution to my entry in it. I'm like the Nero of this bitch.

I think we should all go home and turn off the interwebs and read some bloody Dryden.

I can't be arsed to keep arguing with you about Beckham. Lets agree to disagree. People up and down the country have argued this, and i'm sure it would divide this forum. Unfortunately dear esco, you would be on the blue mongie side. I believe the homer you refer to in your post, would be on mine?

Do you want homer on your side because you're interested in pissfun, or is it just the spanking thing?

p.s Esco, what are your thoughts on Davids? Bet i can guess

Firstly its escos secondly just because i think beckham is still very talented and can pass the ball as good if not better than any player in world football does not make me blue mongy and third my thoughts on davids are that i think he could be a great addition to the set up i think he could generate a lot of interest and money for the club and his experience could help the younger players fantasticly plus if we get a bit of football out of him then great, but if he doesn't sign then nevermind we are doing pretty well as it is.

1) Why is Chris Powell your source of reference as to how Davids could help us? Their careers couldn't be more different.

2) 'Diddly squat about great footballers'
I was first broken the news about Davids joining us by a Dutch work colleague at work. He is a lifelong Ajax fan and put his head round the door of my office to say "you lot must be mad" assuming I knew what he was talking about. He can't believe we want to sign him and having seen him during both his spells at the club, thinks he's an arsehole and finished. When Davids joined Spurs I gleefully took a queens head off my mate who is a Tottenham fan, after i correctly bet he would turn out to be a bad signing. However, being the fickle leicester fan i am, i have been coming round to the idea of him joining us this week, simply because it will be interesting to see someone who is known out of england playing for us. Heart says it will be fun, head says he is exactly what we don't need and will not be a success. Never rated him.

3) Beckham is only still picked for England because of Capello finding a role for him to keep the FA happy. Everybody knows the only reason Marin O'Neill didn't get the England job was because the first question he was asked, 'what would be the first thing you would do as England manager?" His answer. "Drop Beckham".

Good players don't lose their touch, but they do lose their pace, something which is imperative in the modern game.

1) They are both experienced players that could inspire/guide younger players. Davids' recent absence from the game might be counterbalanced by his great skill.

2) Davids is not now attempting to play for Ajax or Spurs but us. Much as I would like to think of us as a top 6 side in our country, we are a long way from the class of Ajax and Spurs.

3) I do not think Capello needs to do anything to keep the FA happy except win games. Beckham is there on merit as an impact player.

If pace is imperative in this league, why the feck does Pearson ever pick Howard?

I am certain that Pearson would not allow himself to railroaded into a publicity stunt. I am certain that Pearson would only go public on his support for the deal if he or his staff had thoroughly checked out Davids' fitness and attitude to playing again.
