But we got the 3 points! Happy New Year everyone

A very good result to round off a very good festive period. Our style bores me to tears but he is going nowhere with results like this. And, as much as I dislike his approach and would personally prefer somebody else at the helm, nor should he be.

Terrible game bereft of any quality. Simpson MotM for me with Ricardo not far behind. Evans was also effective. Let's just pretend that shitfest never happened and take the three points.

Someone will be along in a minute to tell us what a short thread this will be....

Nice and 9 points from 12.

Just a bit mad that the 3 points dropped were to Cardiff at home??

Oh well, all the regular first teamers can have a rest for the cup game and come back fully refreshed after to push on for the last half of the season and make that 7th spot ours.

Ugly as hell as a lot of games are this time of year, get rid of the game between boxing Day and New Years Day

would it make people feel better had we lost to Man City or Chelsea instead?

In the end, Puel can't really be criticised too heavily after that. Both teams were garbage but Evans came in and did well, Choudhury was restored and did well. Ricardo did well even though he was in the left and he saw fit to take the appalling Ghezzal off at HT for Albrighton which was the correct decision. Simpson came in and was our MotM for me.

Fifth away win. Plenty more to come, too.

That's the story of this season for me. Our home record is poor. Our away record is excellent.

We have more away points than Arsenal or Man Utd and only one fewer win away than Man City.

At home, we're less than average.

My take on this is that we're better at counter-attacking than we are setting the pace of a game. If only the manager was able to recognise how some simple changes in how we approach games at home could really help.

Piss poor first half. Better in the second. For that reason Albrighton deserves MotM. His clearly superior work ethic actually gave us something going forward.

Vardy on Sky, was asked why he was talking to the manager a bit after clearly finding it difficult first half

“Was just asking him what the plan was to stop them in the build up as there were 4 stopping the ball get to me. He told me to get a bit of information on to Hamza and Wilf”

I'm sure if we lost to one of those instead of Cardiff there wouldn't be all the Puel out nonsense we are getting right now.

To be fair though, I'm sure most would have had that Cardiff match down as the one we would get maximum points from and probably very little from the other 3.

Funny old game.

how can you set up to counter attack Cardiff? they didn't come to attack

Boring as ****. Both teams absolutely dreadful. But three points is three points.

Teams really should sack Marco Silva after three months before he then does his usual bottle job.

Ghezzal should never play for us again. He’s in the Zsolt Laczko category. Actually I take that back, Zsolt actually had one good game (on his debut).

Yes, fair post. Second half was so much better. I’d argue Albrighton should always start but he could well have been shattered physically.

Choudhury put Wilf to shame. Thought he was great and it’s a nonsense to suggest that Wilf had more potential for creating things against Cardiff.

Ricardo is looking so good at the moment, happy for him to be playing forward if it means Simpson can shore things up a bit.
