Ashley Chambers

Incredible Run Continues

Leicester City's under 18 side made it five wins out of five with a well deserved 3-1 victory over Premiership giants Arsenal on Saturday morning.

The Gunners took a 1-0 lead into the break, but three second half goals would see the Foxes to the win - Max Gradel, Andy King, Ashley Chambers getting on the scoresheet.

Academy Director Jon Rudkin said: "It was a good game of football played on a fine surface.

"The lads didn't let their heads drop when they went a goal down and have put in a fabulous performance after the break to seal the win.

"We are obviously delighted with the result and I am very pleased for the lads."

deffinatley would like to see more of the youth players a chance, hopefully a win next saturday against millwall will confirm safety and allow us to play about with the team to see what sort of prospects we have for next season.
Chambers should definately be given his chance as he sounds like one of the best prospects since heskey and being linked with premiership teams albeit via internet forums.
Dont know much about Max Gradel think hes a right winger but not sure, if he is then it looks like he could be a gem as i know that he has been in fine scoring record for the reserves at the moment, 6 in 6 or 7 i think plus i think he has got a good celebration too!!
Also seeing as the left back position has been a problem all year sheenen should be given a decent run when he gets fit to asses whether he could make it at this level, hes been on the fringes for a while but yet to deliver.
got a couple of other good youngsters i think but no absolutely nothing about them to be honest, anyone no much about Jay Smedley, Joe Matlock, Dodds or Levi Porter, reckon they could do a job for us this year / next year.

i'm sure they'll get their chance in good time. i don't want to get too excited about them just yet, especially if their 'rise' is being promulgated by the OS.

How old are some of these players?

I no Chambers is 16 but how old is Gradel and some of the other more promising youngsters like that midfielder called Obin... something or other. You no the one with the African sounding name.

Gradel is older, as he has already been at a few clubs before us, west ham and charlton i think. I think he is getting on for 20ish, chambers is only 16 though!

Gradel is still only 18 - he trialled with a couple of London clubs before coming to us at the beginning of the season - he's got to be worth a try before the end of the season - he has got 6 goals in 7 reserve games from the right wing!

Thanks for the welcomes!! Would be good to see some of the younger ones getting a chance when we are safe. I heard there is a strong centre back coming through as well - Liam Norvell

Hi lagerlager, maybe give them 15-20 mins if we're winning in the last couple of games. It'll take the edge of their nerves for next season.:038:

Welcome LagerLager, I would like to see a few of the decent youngsters loaned out at lower division clubs to gain experience and help toughen them up physically, we have all seen the benefit that Chris O'Grady has enjoyed from his loan at Rushden.

Is it just me or has O'Grady bulked up tenfold since Rushden.

Couldnt possibly comment as to whether you have put on weight since Rushden Hazzman, but O'Grady certainly seems to have filled out :icon_lol:

that seems to have worked well for o'grady and is certainly a better option than letting them play in the reserves but if we win on saturday then i believe it would be of our benifit to see if they could play in our system, Max Gradel for one seems the ideal player to bring in, hes 18 and would of been playing reserve team football for a while now and seeing as he is a right winger he would be perfect to slot into one of our positions that has been a weakness since kelly has taken over, no disrespect to alan maybury, its not his strongest position.
Combine that with Gradel's prolific scoring record of late, im sure he is very high on confidence at the moment and would feel overlooked if he were not to get his chance to play here this season as this is the age at which he would be looking to break into the first team
