Thursday night of last week I sat and watched the 1996 play off game, I was a bit down thinking that we would be second on Saturday when we went to Hereford, Super Stevies goal was a gem then and iconic in that it gave us a mighty stride into the Premiership, lets hope that the goal on Monday will give us the lift that we all need to go forward, in the context of the season it was magnificent, onwards and upwards, give them a big shout at Southend on Saturday.

Older folk like me remember Alan Clarkes last minute winner against The Baggies in the 1969 semi-final and Mike Stringfellows winner against Liverpool in the 1963 semi-final. In view of their importance Claridges two, Walshies and Howerds certainly rank with them.

Joey from the halfway line, Nalis in the 4-0 against dirty, and Muzzy's overhead kick are the ones that first come to mind.

That Joachim goal someone posted was a beaut though, not seen that before.

But in terms of what the goals meant to us, I'd definetely have to say Claridge's 2 big goals.

i will never forget that moment. watching the ball float into the corner and then absolute madness, screaming, shouting, hugging. One of the best moments of my life - sad git!

I think I've watched steve howard goal on Monday more times than even Walshies against the sheep - a truly iconic moment in our history - it ranks as a top 6 goal of all time imo

Nowhere near the top for me.

It's just a goal against a third division team in the season that will be our lowest ever league finish. No more significant to me than any other winning goal this season, although getting it in the last minute always makes it seem better.

I was mascot for this game and i sat next to rooster when having the tour of the changing rooms.

I however picked gary mills, kevin poole and phil gee as my favourite players on the day and had my photos taken with them. And i got a quid from the referee on the day when we did the toss up before the game.
