I am for Steve Clark as well, he can do the job after working with some good managers in the past
Not necessarily - or if you look at the people that have tried it recently, not likely.
Sammy Lee, known as one of the best coaches in the country, having coached with Liverpool and England for years, was a complete failure as a manager. Nigel Pearson? Chris Hutchings (twice)? Or closer to home - Rob Kelly?
And MM has employed a Chelsea coach before - Graham Rix. That went well...
On the other hand, it does sometimes work, although I can't think of any really notable examples. Phil Brown has done well and got Hull promoted via the playoffs, although he didn't exactly do well in his first job at Derby. Alan Irvine at Preston has I suppose improved them a bit. Probably the most successful coach-turned-manager in recent times is Steve McLaren (whom I'd be delighted with - relative to our position - as manager).
As I've said before, I want us to employ somepne who has at least proved they can do the job of
managing a football team. Giving someone a first crack at management, irespective of their previous roles under whichever managers, is a BIG gamble.
