Have we really sunk so low that some people actually think that John Gregory would be an acceptable appointment ?

Incredible

I don't think JG would be a good choice. But then it won't be the end of the world if he is because he can't do a much worse job than our recent managers.

I think Muzzy Izzet would be the ideal choice. He was quite good and he's played for us.

This is like de ja vu, the last time we were looking for a new manager, the same old suspects come out shooting down anyone thats had an up and down career, only to fall in love with Clown b*llocks and go all quiet on us when their choice takes in to the bowels of the football league.

MM will pick his man, and we all get behind him, i hope.

All I know is that the story about Colin turning us down broke before the one about MM listening to the fans. Not that it matters now, it just annoys me when people argue that it was the fans that stopped us getting Colin!

I've heard this as well and I find it more believable than not appointing him because of the fans.

Haven't you ever been dumped by a girl and told all your mates you dumped her?

I really hope you are being sarcastic!

who the feck would want to join us as manager? In the 3rd division, with a load of shite players, working for a ruthless dictator and still everyone will expect automatic propmotion at first time of asking.
You'd have to be insane to come here.

Practically what Fergie jnr (posh) said when linked to us.

Are you suggesting that Milan, our glorious leader, has been telling lies? Seeing as how it was himself who circulated the story about listening to the fans on that occasion.
Shocking.

A little bit like when they story was leaked that he was going to raise prices no matter what division we were in, only for him to then come out and say he has listened to the fans and he is freezing them.

Anybody would think that he knew how to spin a story to create positive PR for himself and make sure the fans dont get on his back! :icon_wink

I'd heard that Milan was likely to delegate the final choice of manager to the Foxes Trust.

A lot of this is reminiscent of MM's previous manager searches and the names linked to us. Some ridiculously big names to suggest our ambition and some ridiculously poor ones so we're all relieved when someone in the middle range joins.

Big Name ????
Oh lordy, please no!!!!
Nearly all the other top runners in the bookie stakes sounded feasible.

I don't like looking at managers based on their win ratio. If Jose Mourinho managed to get a win ratio of 40% for Derby last season, and Peter Taylor managed to get a win ratio of 50% for Man Utd last season, it doesn't mean that Taylor did a better job than Mourinho does it?

John Gregory did a very good job at Villa, and had a great win ratio. His win ratio's are shit at Derby and QPR but they were bottom of the table teams. He took over QPR when they were bottom and he kept them up. He took over Derby when they were bottom of the table and doomed, and thankfully took them down.

Now I'm not saying I want Gregory as our manager, not at all, but there are worse fish in the sea.

Good point, well made.

He was interviewed on an informal basis before the end of the season, sounded out if you will. Like it or leave it, remonstrations then swayed the decision making process.
