Gregory tipped for City return

by Tim Murray

Former Leicester City first-team coach John Gregory is being strongly backed to return as the club's next manager.

And Blackpool boss Simon Grayson's price has also been trimmed after the Seasiders revealed they would not stand in the way of him leaving the club.

Gregory, who has managed Aston Villa, Wycombe, Derby and Queen's Park Rangers since his spell at City under Brian Little in the '90s, was 16-1 with Leicester bookmakers Mark Jarvis when betting opened this week.

But he has been backed into 3-1 third-favourite behind Billy Davies and Grayson.

It is a similar story with Victor Chandler, who have trimmed the former England midfielder's odds from 20-1 to 4-1.

Jarvis spokesman Scott Upton said: "We have some heavy liabilities over Gregory. About 75 per cent of the business in the last 24 hours has been for him.''

Chandler's Dave Jenkins said: "We had a flurry of bets for John Gregory on Wednesday evening and they appear to be from some very informed sources.

"We had him in at 20-1 but quickly cut that to 12-1. That price was also taken and we cut him to 9-1 before we decided to suspend the market.

Mark Jarvis are a joke Company, someone has probably had a fiver on him and thats why they cut him from 16/1.Chandlers are just reacting to Jarvis IMo so they don't get caught out.I wouldn't read too much into odds being 'slashed' for things like this,no Bookmaker in the land will take serious amounts on money on a Who Will be Next Manager of This Club

He was interviewed on an informal basis before the end of the season, sounded out if you will. Like it or leave it, remonstrations then swayed the decision making process.

If i wanted to be a porn star and work for Spit-And-Shine Incorporated, the porn film producers, and somehow my target market segment (gay men that like shaven muscle men) found out and proceeded to lord it about the porn industry that they would no longer masturbate to the porn produced by Spit-And-Shine Incorporated if i was ever shown performing in one of their movies AND that it was purely because I am a knobhead and not because they found my naked body repulsive, then I would tell said porn producer....'Thanks but I'm not really interested.'

In truth I would be mortified and forever hold a grudge and hate the gay shaven muscle men loving community. I would even consider a targeted campaign of terror.

The equivalent of this is Colin Wanker 'not wanting' the Leicester job and then trying his hardest to beat us every time a team under his management plays us. He's a terrorist.

We, the fans, have created a monster
