.... but like everything else there are some good years and some bad. After all it is not every year that City have the top Academy side in the UK.

Not really to be honest. If freebies take us up and Milan makes 30million (abatrary figure) on us then I couldn't care less. I don't support Leicester to make money so it concerns me not the cost of transfers if (and I appreciate the if cannot be resolved until the season starts) the players are good enough.

I get the impression (not neccessarily you HF) that some people on here would moan if the likes of Kaka and Terry were brought in on frees because we weren't spending enough.

Like I said I'm not knocking the signing itself,I've never seen the guy play and maybe its just a feeling brought on by all the 5 signings so far being on frees.You can't build a decent side on ALL free transfers,you do occasionally have to pay for quality and hopefully we will.Its not always the case I admit but you do usually get what you pay for.I am trying to keep an open mind on it all tbh

Not sure about this signing, its another unproven, could have the potential to be a great player but we need to be signing quality and not potential, we all know what happened when a certain Scotsman tried to do that. :icon_roll

I'm not worrying yet as there is still time left before the start of the season but am hopeful we will see another couple of 'wise heads' brought in through the door before the season starts.

which scotsman? if you mean levein then he signed players with experience (MDV and Rab) and they were hardly fans favourites.

i remember when MON signed Matt Elliott and I thought 'who the feck is he', as with savage, lennon and many others....turned out ok didn't it? dion dublin was a proven centreback and he was ****in shit. the championship attracts too many has been footballers who are picking up their last pay packed before death. any player worthy of a fair asking price is probably out of our budget too
