It would take some naivety to be too inspired.....the guy has allegedly been playing on an amateur contract!

As I've said on another thread, my guess is he took the amateur contract so that he could join any club on a free, therefore increasing his personal signing on fee. Smart move if that was the case.

Thinking about it further, it's another risky signing. Whatever MA is doing there isn't a great deal of 'safe' work so far.

Hey............ have any of got memories remember an unknown entity in Muzzy Izzet or Neil Lennon we knew Fu** all about these two and neither did there teams but look what happened.............so you never know.

People had been talking about Lennon as being a player with potential for a couple of years before we signed him, and I'd seen him play for Crewe and had been impressed, so he certainly wasn't unknown in the way that some of the players we're being linked with are.

Yes Jeff but Man City didnt want to know thats why he ended up at Crewe but I get your drift Muzzy was different not even considered in a not too good Chelsea team of the time........ but they're other instances of players we got that were considered not good enough or over the top even years ago I remember Froggatt who Pompey considered passed his sell by date but was an enormous difference for us and we are littered with players who gave more to Leicester than to any other side without recognition the 70's was an era for many of them,
certainly T.C.who was considered Passed his best and went on to claim his history for Leicester

Lennon was highly rated when he came here. Same applied to Savage.

Chelsea made it clear that they thought Izzet had real talent - £650k wasn't it. A lot for a player who had never played for their first team.

I too remember Jack Froggart. I recall that when we signed him it was presented as a star signing. I respect your long involvement as a supporter but really there is no comparison between the apparant ( I stress apparant) nonenities that we are signing now and an outstanding England international like Jack Froggart. Froggart came in as an inspirational skipper and highly versatile player - in an era when an older player was more adaptable to the tempo of the game. The likes of the N'Gotty are really going to struggle in this division in the modern age.

Ultimately, Tony Cottee played an almost cameo role at Leicester - we are talking now about rebuilding the mainstays of the squad and frankly for all the spin coming out of the Walkers nothing has been done todate to inspire any enthusiasm.

I knew that Milan would play it tight on money - but he's got a hell of a lot to do to suggest to my mind that things are moving in the right direction. The Mercury is renowned for its silly talk about the prospects of the club.....I thing those of us who are slightly more realistic and honest take a more sceptical view.

I don't agree

I don't agree either. N'Gotty did fine last season, he'll do fine this season. In fact, of all the signings thus far, I have the most confidence in him.

I think there are bigger signings to come (I certainly hope so), and there is certainly plenty of time before pre-season, that's for sure. I'd certainly expect the transfer market to be hotting up from next week.

time will tell CL did the same thing clean house and looked what happend then ,im msaying its the same this time as its not Due to MM and his moneu but so far he's spent sod all , now that could be his contacts that are sorting this or he's not 100% himself .

look at the facts so far

bought the club (cheap)
made money players selling £650k so far
brought in 4 free players (could be a good move or not )
season tickets have gone up a bit

so far MM's winning

Given his track record at Portsmouth Newts, I'd say he is very much himself, spent next to sod all on transfers, just made them a more attractive club by being generous on the wages.

It will be interesting to see how that all sits with our current (retained) squad who have been assembled by a mangement team whose sole/main operating criterion was to slash the wage bill!

i hope they dont ****ing like it, because if not they can all **** off seeming they are work shy wankers who have offered this club nothing in exchange for the still unjustifiable high wages they are on.

thay simply cannot moan, because they do not justify higher wages the useless ****tards. and if they do want higher wages they can go out there and play as though they do.

A fair summary.

MM seems like a decent enough bloke - and it was a plus that he wanted to take Leicester under his wing because we were hopelessly flundering.

However, we don't all have to be stupid and lap up the club's and Mercury's propaganda.

So far he has spent next to nothing on acquiring the club and has since brought in players off the scrap heap.

Things may change - but has it stands this morning, people are going to be paying more to see probably a better motivated team, but one that is unlikely to be in a challenging position.

Perhaps, we should accept that this is as good as it gets and be grateful that Leicester has a second tier professional club. But i wish they would spare us the phoney excitement about not very inspiring acquisitions.

is it possible to have a signing thread without someone banging about MON, Lennon & Izzet

:icon_roll

btw i reckon this guy's rubbish, hope he proves me wrong

I Think what the club has done in this regard is excellent. Hume has been given a new contract in recognition of his efforts,. i imagine the rest have been told to earn it this season.

Know what you're saying. Mind you having a clear out of the stuff in my loft and found old videos from 1996-7. Central sports highlights of the league cup run. :icon_lol: Man U, Ipswich and the two semi-finals against Wimbledon.
