Nobody knows what the price is Stevo, we can't afford to take the risk that its £250k IMO.

The boy is well known as being talented, we had him here, Craig liked the look of him, we tried to get him on the cheap but we simply can't afford him, sad times!

In truth I don't understand it, we clearly havent got 2 pennies to rub together yet last season we spent a million on players and we had all the high earners to pay too. We have cleared all the big earners off the wage bill, we still have the Sky parachute payment, we have had season ticket cash early this year too.:102:

Wheres the money gone?..........oh yeah sorry, Macestock:mad:

Have to say that's the most interesting thing

We were told specifically that the early bird season ticket launch, and the launch of the new kit before the end of last season, was to get some cash together for Levein to spend this summer

Doesn't look like it amounted to much did it ??

I suspect we are looking at paying fees for the "Gang of Four", and that left nothing else for CKR - either that or Levein rates the two strikers he is bringing in higher than him

Where's the Money Gone ???

Now that takes me back...........

I think we've got to be realistic regrading the money we've got to spend.
We lost money because of the attendances where lower than expected, so the earlier bird season ticket launch probably covered that.
We're broke. Like everyone else in the Championship (apart from a few)

Isn't the parachute payment less in your second season though?

Plus, don't forget that Levein spent about £250,000 on Maybury, De Vries, Hughes and McCarthy (wow, that is great business when you look at it), which I think was money for this seasons transfer budget.

i think levein has been told to slash the wage bill by a pretty considerable amount, i think that the club wants to be operating on the basis that it might not go up this season and doesnt want to be left next season still in the championship, with no parachute money and with a wage bill it just cant afford. it might seem negative but i think the clubs just being realistic based on what happened in the past. i would imagine thats why we seem to have a lot less money to spend than last summer.

But he has done

This year we do not have the truly exhorbitant wages of :
Matt Elliott
James Scowcroft
Ian Walker
Matt Jones
Trevor Benjamin

Not to mention all the other useless muppets we have let go. Our wage bill has been slashed enormously, compared to last year

But yet still reported to us as being 'one of the largest in the division'.

It will still be one of the biggest in the division, it's just that last year it was probably twice that of anyone elses.

"[]...De havde også lavet en aftale med Leicester, men det faldt på, at jeg ikke var interesseret."

This is from an interview by Onside.dk with Laursen himself.

And this quote pretty much says, that they (Celtic) made a deal with us (City), but ultimately he (Laursen) wasn't interested.

Well if Laursen is not interested then stuff him.:icon_sad: :icon_sad:  :) ;) :icon_mrgr

I think we slashed the wage bill down to something like £11m by the end of last season and Levein was budgeted to bring that down further to about £5.5m this season.

That leaves him little room for manouvre.

The reasoning is as Country Fox has stated, we may remain in the Championship next season and without any parachute payments. They may also be budgeting for lower attendances after falling short of budget for last season.

Also remember that next season our budget is being slashed again. With Levein liking to sign players on longer contracts I'd imagine those contracts will have to have a wage-reduction clause in them for next season in the event of non-promotion. Which I would imagine would put some players off.

yeah but hopefully there won't be any £100,000 release clauses in there too!

Yeah well if they want him they can have him...for the right price!!!!

Four Spangles and a Sherbet Dib Dab should do it

I think Joey is a decent backup player at this level. So if we get shot of him, heath, canero and wright are people still happy with us bringing in only 4 replacements?
