In appreciation of Kasper

Some independent and convincing evidence that our main problem is Schmeichel.

This season, he's simply not doing his job and the fear that spreads from this truth is what is our primary defensive issue. His team mates know it and they have lost faith in him.

BR is tremendously loyal to his captain. But unless he addressees this, his captain will cost him his job.

Always been dreadful collecting crosses and now it’s hit a tipping point.

His distribution quality has also declined dramatically.

His leadership style is one that, if you as a leader aren’t bang on it, will piss other players right off.

He’s a world class shot stopper historically, but reflexes will slow with age.

Would take a braver man than me to bench him this season, but it’s probably on the table.

A bit of a shit situation… he’s one of the most important players this club has ever had.

we really are staring down the barrel of widespread change this summer: Tielemans, Ricardo, Soyuncu very much on the table. Kasper, Evans and Vardy reaching the end. All with Congerton in charge.

Without Schmeichel, Napoli would have been out of sight on Thursday. Watch many of those goals this thread cites from set pieces and look at the movement of our CBs and how many of our back four are marking each other. It's horrific.

He's never been great at collecting high crosses. Ever. But we haven't conceded from set pieces like we are doing at the moment. The defence in front of him have been nothing short of shambolic all season.

Part of the problem is the crowded 18 yard box, if we win the header the ball invariably falls to the opposition and is played straight back into the box.
Leave players up the field, the opposition then have to keep players back, if we leave two up front they will cover this with at least three, then maybe Kasper can come for the cross without having to fight his way through a crowd of players

Agree with that. In the title-winning season, we left Vardy, Mahrez upfield with Okazaki on the edge. It regularly forced the opposition to leave 4 players back and made it easier for Kasper to collect the cross. Now we bring all 10 outfield players back with no outlet.

Yep, we've been saying similar too.

Obvious problem is we simply don't have anyone else. Ward isn't up to the job.
What makes you say that? He is generally considered to do a good job for Wales and he's been OK when he's played for us as well.
I don't necessarily disagree - I'd just like to see what makes you think that?

That is a shocking back pass from Ramsay.

I think knowing if a ‘keeper is going to work is really difficult.

I thought Ramsdale was a horrendous signing by Arsenal. A keeper that’s been relegated (three?) times? Madness.
Yet, it’s turned out to be inspirational. Fair play.

Point is you don’t know until they get a proper run do ya

He's a professional bench warmer.

The only treatment he's ever needed in his entire career is for arse strain from sitting on benches at Liverpool & here. Whenever he has played for either he's looked mediocre at best.
Anyone can look good playing for a team of shithouse cloggers like Wales once every few months.

He's actually managed his career extremely well. PL wages for not actually ever having to play in the PL.

He's a chancer.

But we’d all happily do the same thing if we could, yes?
