Perhaps we should contact MTV and ask if they would be interested in producing a television special...

Pimp my team!:icon_lol: DeVries could be installed with a sound sytem and wooley dice!

Sorry to flood the board Webbo, but just wanted to say cheers. I needed to get the frustration of the weekends match off my chest, and your good discussion gave me the chance to vent. But for my Pimp my team suggestion it was almost an adult discussion. This is still the best forum around!!!!!

Good night all and take care!:038:

I think whats annoying fan's is that craig doesnt know what his best 11 is, he hasnt played the same 11 for 2 games yet, didnt keep the teams that beat sheff wed and stoke and even criticised his players after the stoke game. I think he made 2 major signing blunders with gilbert and elvis, elvis isnt a bad player as such but we already had his services secured until january so instead with the cash should have got in an extra option for upfront. There are also fundamental issues such as defending set pieces which he doesnt seem to be addressing.

I do think they are good enough, thats why I said that to state otherwise is laughable.

I don't think there is a big gelling issue though. DeVries, Dublin, McCarthy, Maybury, Stearman, Gudjonnson, Williams, Hughes, Wilcox, Tiatto, Kisnorbo (who arrived before the end of last season and would be more than aware of our system) and also Sheehan, have all been in and around the team from mid - the end of last season - that is the nucleus of the team, and the majority of these players play every week. How long do they need to gel?

I would however, agree with you that up front we are still learning about each other, but I do have reservations about the quality in that department. Otherwise everywhere else we should be fairly stable. The only real new comers to the first team other than the front pairing are Sylla, Nissa and Big Rab. Other than that we have a collection of fringe players who aren't yet of first team standard, but could potentially get there.

My point however, is that the core of the team have been together for a while!

Surely part of the problem at the moment is that we are not fielding a settled side. There seem to be changes made to the starting 11 every week right now (ok due to suspensions on Saturday). I would like to see how we perform once we have an established back 4 who play together week in week out. Thats the only way they'll develop the understanding necessary to stop the lapse in concentration of 1 player costing us points. Lets try to play the same team for a few games and see how it goes..

I can't imagine for one second that they haven't been training their arses off at set pieces for several months. However, the fact that they are still crap at them, both attacking and defending, is a little worrying.

But I think the same can be said of many of the criticisms/suggestions that appear on this and, in particular, "the other forum". Do people honestly believe that an entire set-up of professional sportsmen and coaches with decades of experience between them at the highest level in the professional game, don't realize they have to practise corners?

:119:

The reality of the situation is that CL, as any other manager, has his own ideas of exactly how each situation should be handled. He knows which ones aren't working. The big test of him as a manager is whether he has a few plan Bs up his sleeve, and whether he's prepared to try them, rather than keep plugging away at things that patently aren't working.

i dont see the point of trying to guess our next manager when we still have one in charge :102:

Posted on the football rumours website :

I have heard from very relaible source that Craig Levein will be sacked at Leicester next week. Shortlist of 3 drwan up to replace him, John Gregory, Peter Reid and the favourite Martin Allen

Hopefully a complete load of bollox, it's not you is it Durham posting these rumours, we all know how close you are to Timmy.

I really cannot believe that the board would give either Gregory or Reid the job, even if they were to remove Levein (and I don't think they will this season). Gregory is a dodgy dealer and is tainted, Reid has failed to achieve much anywhere and must be about the most sacked manager doing the rounds. Martin Allen - who knows, but I just can't see the board dumping Levein just yet. Only last week Tim Davies confirmed CL was here for the long trem and short term results were disappointing but that's all.

He has but not for two games in a row I think. ;)

Yea but CL said it was too early to say if we would want to purchase Elvis, 3 days later...

So your point is that you can't always trust what someone says? That's true, but if you don't believe anything that anyone says where does that leave us.
The results this season have been very disappointing, some of the displays likewise. I won't defend CL for ever, there comes a point where enough is enough, but don't think we are there yet.

I do however think that he has done the board's bidding so far and that they may not like the results much but they may think that they are fair exchange for the off field business he has done. I think that if we stay in the Championship this year the board will see that as good enough given the financial state we are in.

Welcome Chuck T. ;) :023:

There has been another rumour posted on this web site today, probably from the same "source" as yesterday, stating that Levein will definately be sacked as we only collected a point from our match against Derby.

I find this laughable really, because I was at the game on saturday and the amount of effort, commitment and quality shown by the majority of players gave me a great deal of encouragement and if anything convinced me that CL will get it right and that this team is capable of getting results and competing in this division.

Can we suggest that everybody stops reading the rumour website, if it gets a falling number of hits it may cease & then it will stop being able to post damaging rumours about many clubs.

Just to confirm our post last night was trying to make the point that the entire story was laughable given the names it came up with, as proved by the further rubbish posted today.

We have spoken to the club in recent days, any rumours posted about CL being unsettled linked to domestic circumstances (as posted by GTFox on the rivals site) are untrue.

The board have not changed in their views of CL being the right person to re-build the side with a long term plan and the Trust also backs this approach
