Can we suggest that everybody stops reading the rumour website, if it gets a falling number of hits it may cease & then it will stop being able to post damaging rumours about many clubs.

Just to confirm our post last night was trying to make the point that the entire story was laughable given the names it came up with, as proved by the further rubbish posted today.

We have spoken to the club in recent days, any rumours posted about CL being unsettled linked to domestic circumstances (as posted by GTFox on the rivals site) are untrue.

The board have not changed in their views of CL being the right person to re-build the side with a long term plan and the Trust also backs this approach

Its plausable form both the Trust and the Club, however if we are 19th at Christmas?......

If that's the case we reckon CL will decide who isn't delivering & try to make a limited number of additional squad movements

Will he still be here to do that though?....

Playing Devil's Advocate, Durham?

Sort of. People seem to make sweeping statements they probably won't stand by - the feeling amongst the 'support' is uneasy now, if we are in trouble at Xmas the pressure to go will be immense, much worse than that that drove Micky out.

However people say 'I will stick by CL whatever happens' etc etc. I promise you, these people will crack if we are near the bottom of the table come the turn of the year. 'Building for the future' 'transition' 'geling' won't be words you will hear then.

this is where you need a board to be strong, and not just give in to pressure.

I think Alan Curbishley at charlton is a fine example of what we now want to achieve.

The financial situation he faced on taking the job was very poor (worse than ours) he had to build a team with no financial support, he was only able to do this because he was alowed to get on with that job (building a team) Regardless of the short term success. he kept his job after a relegation, and charlton are now a respectable premiership outfit.

I know this s a bit of a u-turn on some of my previous comments, but i agree with an earlier comment that survival should be considered a success given our situation. yes we have a high budget, but that money has been put into a long term investment, Levien's success with that investment can only be judged if given time to mature.

In terms of pottential, things look good.

I don't believe we will get relegated (not because we are 'too big' but because i think we are capable of getting enough points) but even if we did, i think allowing Levien to follow through on his investment would be better than starting again with a new manager.

Like any fan i want to see my team doing well, and i get frustrated, and if the worst actually did happen maybe my tone would change. but one thing is for sure... Now isn't the time to Panick

On the subject of John Gregory...

Taking His Time

Intriguing to hear John Gregory on Sky Sports' Football First refer to Darren Bent as a "journeyman" who has never fulfilled his potential.

Is this the 21-year-old Darren Bent who came through the youth system at Ipswich, broke into the first team scoring over 50 goals in four seasons before then making a move to the Premiership and scoring seven goals in seven games for Charlton.

Perhaps John knows something about Bent's Sunday football antics when he was a child...

Oh yes, he'd be a great manager....

I am one who doesnt want craig out now he should have more time, but if christmas comes and we are in a dire position then a decision has to be made at board level to either provide craig with funds for emergency purchases in the problem area (probably up front) or change the management, I can contemplate bottom mid table area but I dont like the idea of relegation out of the championship.

This is all utter bollox!

John Gregory! No way never!!!! Esp' after some very shady dealing at Derby County! Peter Reids' time has been and gone. Martin Allen may well not be any better then Levein. Doubt the axe is ready to fall on Moyes. In hindsight we should have got him instead of Twatlor! But would Moyes even consider coming to us now should Everton let him go and IF CL was even to be sacked!?

Somehow looks like some very bored pre-pubesents trying to shit-stir!

Levein is turning it around, his faith in the youngsters will see us right in the long term.

BLUE ARMY!

What this club desperately needs right now is stability. I hope CL will be the man at the helm to do it, but to go and find yet another manager now would be awful.

{QUOTE]

IMO no manager could survive us getting relegated for the first time to the third tier of English football. But it won't reach that point.

I don't expect relegation and actually anticipate a bit of an improvement over the season - but if by the end of November we were in the relegation places then I would expect the pressures on CL to be impossible for him to remain. At that point, logic about the respective merits of finding a better successor would go out of the window - and public pressure/ board unease would take over.

It's o.k talking about investment in the future, but if a manager has been in post for over 12 months, people are going to expect something a bit more definite in the way of improvement...I'm not saying it's right but that's the way it would be.

If things weren't good we think the board would expect CL to generate his own funds by changing the squad

Any emergency funds may be swallowed up by the reduction in crowds this season

Marketed in the right way, such an event can only boost attendances - should be at the final whistle to achieve maximum crowd retention.

Misread that at first to read ' changing the board' rather than 'squad'. Wondered why the FT was making such sense.

Where did you get this from? I know he has had some very forthright things to say about the board in the last 24 hours, but nobody else is reporting his departure even though it's almost 8 hours since your message.

Foxes_Trust said:
So how would you change the board then Redditch?

My post was meant as a mildly ironic comment along the lines of its a pity that the board does not have adequate resources to plough into the development of the playing staff.

I do understand that this is a position shared with the vast majority of clubs, but nonetheless we can hope that someone or some group will one day come along with the resources that would make a real difference.
