Really? The snow must have obscured my view. They were better for the first 20 minutes but then I thought we were on top, albeit with no end product. Interesting.

For me, they watched us playing tip tap toe and then scored goals, using the conditions to play decisive passes around our ladies and smash it in the onion bag. They were far better than us in the first half at everything bar tip tap twatty nonsense, which in the conditions were useless.

The ref makes the decision (with advice from the local safety people).

Premier League refs are used to being on TV, so it means nothing to them.

Championship refs see it as something special, so they want the game to go ahead.

Attwell has refereed in the Premier League before. I'm sure with his history he's perfectly used to being on TV and therefore it's nothing special to him too

Edit - thanks for correcting yourself before I did Jeff ;-)

But this time we've got money ;)

But.... I miss Meeelan? ;) I'll change it.

Switched the local radio on just before coming down to Leicester for a Wedding Reception at the
Old Post House and guess whose dulcet tones I heard spouting on about he wasnt in it for the money and all he wanted was to make the supporters happy ...
Yes uncle Milan-hes got them wetting their pants up here

Good point Jeff, but today's ref is a Premier League ref. But he's from Nuneaton so he's probably a cov fan, which explains why he didn't call it off when we were losing.

Thats Bollocks

Health and safety reasons, the pitch is ok but not the stands.

That wasn't why I made the point. I perfectly understand what you say but if you see the post I was quoting you'll see why I posted it.

Edit - Actually I can't see why I'm defending myself here. Your reply has nothing to do with my original post so I'm not quite sure why you quoted me.

Watched it on Sky, so first of all huge respect for those who went tonight and safe journey home. The match should not have gone ahead. Having said that conditions were the same for both teams and we were awful, particularly defensively where we made terrible decisions. Sven is right the conditions do not suit our style now, but that should not be an excuse, we should be professional enough to adapt. More disappoitning as we could have gone 7th tonight but we need to accept that they were exceptional, freakish conditions and put it behind us. Lets hope the injuries aren't too bad.
p.s no more games on sky, plleeeease.

:icon_lol:

Nice on SGE

I thought it was funny what he said at the end. In Sweden they don't play football on snow, they do skiing on snow.

Ipswich just adapted to the conditions much better in that first half. They seemed to get the rub of the green, or rather white, on numerous occasions. Pissed off with the ref really, should never have gone ahead in the first place as those conditions were ridiculous.

Had a perfectly good goal ruled out too..

That's bollocks.

You should be wagging ya finger at the ref and not me!

9/10 the ref bottles it and can`t make a decision.

When he sent them down the tunnel for 17 mnutes the game should of been abandoned.

Is it true that if a match is abandoned after 70mins then the score stands? For some reason I think this is true, but then it may be a load of old Highland..

if the ipswich manager was not roy keane he would have called it off
we will muller them on grass bad day at office lets bounce back then splash the cash in january

I think its 80 Alex but im sure one the pedants will confirm.

17 minute break is a joke, should've been called off.

For the first time though, I actually disagree with Sven.
He said he can't knock the players, because that's not how we want to play football. We want to knock it around and play good football, not hit it long and fight for second balls.

Sometimes the system/style won't work though, and you need a backup. Our players SHOULD be capable of fighting for the second ball...

Poor performance, disappointing result.

Looked like 4 injuries to me (Davies, Vitor, Gally and Kirkland), but Sven only mentioned the 2 centre backs getting injured.

What a joke though that the game carried on. Really, the score shouldn't make a difference. If a game isn't safe to continue, it isn't safe to continue. And that should be the only thing that comes into it.

I only saw the match on TV and will defer to the opinions of those great supporters to traveled to it.

Sven was talking rubbish and I am sure he knows it. Ipswich adapted to the conditions better than us; adapting is part of being a good footballer. I would guess that Sven will have some strong words with some of the players but will keep it in house. There are times when managers have to defend players in public while doing some blunt speaking in private.

If Kirkland is injured then he should go back to Wigan. An injury prone goalkeeper is no good to us.

I accept that Naughton is excellent and so perhaps is Cunningham. However, I wonder whether Davies and Vitor are over-rated. Both are capable of some clever football but both make too many mistakes. We consistently let in goals which suggests there is less quality to our back four than meets the eye.
