no point really, three points lost or three points given away makes no difference now. The main point now is to keep focused and get three points next week, and maintain that crucial eight point gap.
I am off down the pub to blow the froth off a couple, if you get my point.

I thought you posted on this forum with your dad. How old is he ? :eek: ;)

Ray Graydon out...

Ha ha, just kidding.... No surprise there....I hate Portman Road, we get nowt there ever..

Chin up people, we are still 8 points clear of the drop zone! On current form Crewe, Brighton and Millwall won't get another 8 points all season!!!

And why is that? Not my fault that i had my logical head on where others seemed to get carried away.
Brauny's right. If we had got anything out of todays result it would have been a good day. But we didn't, so lets not be too negative.

However, my only concern is that them 3 wins were because of CL leaving and not RK taking over (I stated this at the time in a previous post) . Plot a graph from December 1st. You will see the "Blip" when CL left, the graph now looks to be steadying back to what it was. I hope I am wrong.

The team looks to be playing a whole lot better together, but we are still missing costly chances

I also hope you are wrong as listening to the game today sounded very much like it was the same old stuff we played under CL. I hope that this was just an off day and the lads will turn it it on again at the Walkers next week against Hull sending fecking Peter Taylor away with mullering.

I would have thought that three near to certain facts are:

1. CL - the Scots disaster - leaving was a major short term boost - irrespective of the merits of RK;

2. Ipswich v Leicester was a home banker;

3. Those of us with an inkling of commonsense knew that we were still considerably more fragile than some of the recent daft comments here have indicated.

Now that Levein as gone, I am reasonably confident that Crewe, Brighton and Millwall are dire enough to ensure we avoid relegation. However, surely everyone can see that the squad is wafer thin on numbers irrespective of quality. I didn't think it was a particularly smart move to dispense with Dublin and MDV until the summer - not because either of them is any great shakes but simply because we needed cover - and Dublin, in particular, provided that in central defence.

However, I don't expect the above blemish to prove fatal.

We were right to remove Dublin IMO, i quite liked de vreis though, so maybe i would have kept him, we still have the option of lan cover if necessary. It would be interesting to know if MDV would be better if the ball was played to his feet regularly rather than the hoof service he got while CL was here.

I understand the reasons you say that about Dublin. But the reality is that Dublin is the main beneficiary - he was "removed" to one of the biggest clubs in the UK!

The main point I'm making is that we are clearlyshort of players - and Dublin was sort of two players in one. I'm only referring to the position till the end of the season...but IF we had a load of injuries/ suspensions...and in the admittedly unlikely event that one of the three strugglers started to pick up points, then things still could be uncomfortable.

let's be positive....if we had won today then Kelly might've been in contention for the Manager of the Month award......

talk about putting the kiss of death on us for the rest of the season!
:038: Good point bf, I can assure you that I am positive and believe we will bag a few more wins between now and the end of the season but listening to the commentry on BBCRL today was not good as Sinclair & Barber souded very negative.

Nice post Redditch. I agree 100%

Six against three for the first goal and free near post header for the second. :icon_eek: :icon_roll

I think if everybody was aware of all the circumstances that surrounded Dublin's departure, it would generally be accepted that he was not the only beneficiary - City benefitted greatly and not only in terms of the Club saving on wages. Believe me!

Does anybody know the circumstances of the young lady (I think lady:icon_conf ) being escorted away by the police at the start of the second half?

She was sitting in the third block across, nearer the back than the front, and had been spoken to by both stewards and police during the first half. She didn't seem to be causing any trouble but there was no argument from either her or from the City fans sitting around her as she was taken out.

Was she ill? If so, why didn't the first-aiders attend?

I agree that yesterday was not a disaster. If Brighton had have won I'd have probably been panicking, but as it happens it was pretty much 'oh well we've lost against a odd team'. As it turned out it was a free game.

I think you have a point to some extent about the possibility of a 'blip', but that would be in terms of looking at the last 2 seasons as a whole. There's no doubt that prior to CL's departure we were playing as badly as we have done since 1991 - that doesn't seem to be the case now.

If we have steadied back to a point on the graph as you suggest, it is probably to the form in Sept/Oct (win - draw - draw - lose) rather than the form in January. RK might not take us any further than 19th in the Championship, but that's all we need this season.
