I thought Fulop's clapping at the end was giving thanks to the fans for their support and his delight at the win. Seriously hope we make the move permanant asap.

There's a usually reliable source of info on this board who thinks that Sunderland are just trying to force our hand into coughing up pronto and that we will be OK to keep him.

Trouble is, teams like QPR have money too now.....

Good performance, however you look at it (even though they were shit)

Fryatt was superb - as was both Clemence and Stearman

Luvvly Jubbly :038:

Re: Ipswich Match Thread

A guy sitting behind me in F1 was laughing and cursing his luck with a few mates as he just missed out on a 3-0 bet slip too (this was after the Fryatt/Hume break at the end which saw Hume's shot saved) - was it you by any chance?

Overall very pleased with the performance.

One man who played very well today from start to finish was Stephen Clemence, which hopefully suggests he has broken away from the poor form he has shown in the past few weeks. Really driven the team forward today, exactly what we want.

Beaumont Fox is a girl, so doubtful...

Some idiot behind me spent most of the first half shouting for Stearman, playing pretty well, to be taken off and for the ball to be constantly given to Hume, who was anonymous for large parts of the game I thought. It seems some fans can't get past their prejudices, Stearman is shite and Hume is God, despite the evidence in front of them.

Isn't that exactly what the FT were on about on here & getting slagged off for suggesting it even took place?

You old cynic BB.

Seriously I thought that was as good a performance I, as an irregular, have seen for some time. The lack of a midfield is still glaringly obvious, too defensive and unbalanced but they all worked hard but could be exploited by a better team than Ipswich showed up with today.

Excellent result today and badly needed, but i wont be convinced until we learn to string 7-8 match unbeaten runs together. One of our major failings over the last 4 years is the lack of consistant good runs. Imo its the only way that makes the opposition respect you. At the moment everyone fancies their chances against us, and we need to change the opponents positive mindset by letting them know that they have a tough game on their hands.

That was spiffing.

Thank God my standards have now been lowered to such a level that I will accept second rate performances against piss-poor opposition as bloody good afternoon entertainment.

maybe im a little bit of a pesimist but as we won in some style today(Admitedly for a change) where are all the doom and gloom merchants god forbid they have nothing to moan about.Melts for a first time for a while you are quiet, hope that you not hiding now you cant moan, god forbid. And before you start saying its only 1 game I go to all of them, shit or not when your blue your blue not just when were winning.

I like the fact that Ollie singled out Stearman as the man who he had been most critical of since his arrival. This shows that he knows that Stearman has been coasting and is quite capable of much, much more. Maybe he's finally getting the message and growing up a bit as today he played his best game for us since he first came into the side.

I've also been highly critical of Clemence this season but his performance today was comfortably the best I've seen from him. Not great by any means, but more like what we should be getting week in, week out.

Much more like it performances too from Fryatt and Chambers. Although the passing from them both was woeful as ever.

How about this for a first ever: I think I saw a non-routine 10 yard plus pass from Kisnorbo find his man in the first half. I nearly fainted.

Aside from the well made and converted set piece goals, we were still largely garbage. I thought Hume and John were dreadful. I accept that Hume was out of position on the left but it was no excuse for his indulgent and wasteful play in possession and his shabby positioning leaving Mattock massively exposed at times.

Overall, whilst I'm thankful that Ipswich were shambolic, there were some positive signs that Ollie is beginning to make a positive difference with some individuals. This suggests to me that progress is around the corner.

Or maybe Stearman and co have just realized that they either start earning their money, else the taxi is waiting.

I didn't go today as I have been ill so I can't have an opinion.

Why you have decided to attack me on a personal level I don't care, but bring it on if you want a fcuking challenge and need humiliating!!!

Fryatt still remains the most technically gifted player in the squad by a country mile. And as today proved if you provide him with service he will hurt the opposition,we have just failed to provide him with service

Bit harsh DB.
