Bad players don't win you games even when they're on the pitch...

What about that time the winner against Cov scum was scored by none other than Matt Heath?

For a Championship team it is.

And what matters is that it would be a large percentage of our own transfer budget spent on one player.

How much is our budget exactly, because if we don't know then how do we know that we are blowing nearly all our budget :102:

I know that you know, but that doesn't necessarily mean we won't spend anything. Most teams post losses and there's still plenty of money flying about (although most of it will completely avoid the Walkers Stadium).

Sure. Just illustrating why there is so much hand-wringing amongst supporters about finances and why 1M seems a lot to us in these current times when we used to piss 3M away on the likes of Scowcroft.

Piss away?!

He could still do a job now...

From the Mercury

Reports that City are preparing a £1 million bid for James Vaughan appear wide of the mark. The 21-year-old's career has been hampered by injury and there are big question marks over whether City could afford such a fee, although it is understood Everton are willing to listen to offers.

Bargain basement time again next season methinks.

I don't believe for one second that we cannot afford 1mil on a striker, that's such a ridiculous thing to say. Our budget, considering the season we've had and a promotion push next year, cannot possibly be >1mil.

Im sure our budget isn't les then 1 million, but a large part of it is, especially with wages included as well. Might feel it is too much to spend on one player, when we might be able to get 1 and a couple of loans for a similar amount

Depends what you mean by afford. Can we go another £1m into debt to buy a player, of course we can.

Will we have the cash in the bank after we've paid wages etc to buy a £1m player... No chance.

:102:

That '>' is a 'greater than' sign, so that little bit there means 'greater than 1mil'...
