VARDY IS GOD!

A great message is sent out with this Vardy story.

Lovely indeed.

A

Agreed. Vardy and his agent have played Arsenal rather contemptuously.

Personally, I heartily approve.

Whatever the truth of how seriously he contemplated leaving, I'm struggling to think of a comparable situation where a City player offered more money by a bigger club, has chosen to stay with us instead.

He might not be worse off by staying as there is more to contracts than the wage. Image rights could be significant, especially with a movie being made

Didn't Muzzy choose us over ? after being relegated in 2002? I remember him saying goodbye and everything and then going off to Korea for the World Cup and coming within a gnat's of equalising for Turkey against Brazil in the semis .... then blow me he was back again playing for us against Watford in the first division the next season.

I have no idea whether it's true, but my understanding was that no one would pay him the same as we were.

I think you are right. He was lined up to go to Middlesbrough on a free, but they were offering wages less that he earned at LCFC.

Exactly.

Which makes this all the more impressive.

In my mind, it was completely in the balance. It sounds like it was more money, at a bigger club, with guaranteed world class teammates and one of the most successful managers of the modern era, versus being the focal point of a settled squad and remaining in a group of players that will go down in legend.

For him to stay is a real statement of intent from the club. For all the talk of us falling back down the table this season, Top appears to be living up to his word of trying to stabilise us as a top club, given the transfer fees and wages that are being banded around.

I truly believe that with the infrastructure behind the scenes, and some excellent coaches, staff and scouts, we could be entering an incredible era. Even if that's *just* stabilising ourselves as a top 6/7 club, similar to the old Spurs, that spells a remarkable achievement. But maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself and we'll be playing Rotherham again in 2 years time...

In his book muzzy just says there were a lot of clubs interested in 2002, the club were keen on letting him go because of administration looming, but he didn't really want to leave.

What struck me most about his book was his sheer affection for the club and how be I didn't want to leave for Villa really. And how his plan had been to come back to us to finish his career - but he didn't make it that far.

Great news and an indication just how far have come. Now for Riyad and N'Golo. Please.
