Two out of those sides have just been relegated from the Premier League. We had prolific strikers when we'd just been relegated back in 2003. Dickov and Deane were a great pairing and Scowcroft, Izzet and others contributed.

I still don't think we desperately need to improve the strikeforce but the rest of the team need to start scoring goals. The midfield don't score enough goals or create enough chances.

I have no more idea as to the lad's ability (Andy Bond) than I have as to the theory of relativity, but I am told that he is a hard tackling midfielder who learned his trade at Crewe. That sounds interesting: much more what we desperately need.

Yes, physics pedants, I know that weight isn't really mass, but have used the misconception for convivial effect.

I remember Mark De Vries making a remarkable contribution to Physics. He proved that Einstein was wrong and that having a lot of mass was irrelevant to producing energy.

I have a friend who works at the club and he told me that Mandy really wants it (promotion) this year (a little obvious I suppose) but that he has told NP that he will back what ever he wants to do (within reason I'm sure) and the impression i'm left with is that 2 deals (incoming) are all but done! As soon as I can find out who they are I'll post it, but as you would imagine that info is under lock and key at the moment!
