Why is it a waste of time? Was playing in the Eufa cup a waste of time as we had nil chance of winning it? Is playing in the FA cup this season a waste of time as we have less than nil chance of winning it?
I will bet anything you want, that when the day comes we will take our full allocation of tickets and still beg for more, JP trophy final is still a day out at wembley.
To be honest, I am beginning to wish I'd never mentioned it!
However, trying to be patient and rational, here goes:
1. The UEFA Cup and FA Cup are respectable competitions with some degree of prestige attached (although both have limited currency these days compared with the Champions League & the Premier League). Therefore they are worth taking seriously.
2. The JPT can't - in my opinion - be taken seriously and the very fact that we are competing in it is just a badge showing that we have fallen to a new low. I would prefer us to just concentrate on getting back to the 2nd tier of English football and then taking it from there.
3. I can see that JPT games could provide an opportunity for reserve and Academy players and they should be motivated to go out and try to win such games - obviously. I do understand that we could be fined for fielding weakened sides but I would guess that the size of the fine would be as derisory as the competition.
4. I can also see that many, many supporters would enjoy a day out to Wembley. Good luck to them. and I hope that they would enjoy the day..but I can't attach any meaning whatsoever for a club like Leicester City winning the JPT.
Before Boc pens another carping post having a go at me for being repetitive - can I confirm that I realise that I've made these points before. However, because you, BG, asked the questions, I've taken the trouble to reply. I'm fed up with hearing and posting about such trivia as the JPT now.
