I hope that the club is keeping a list of names of those who want us to chuck the JPT at the earliest opportunity, with the intention of telling them where to go when they apply for a Wembley ticket.

i really dont give a funkeys muck if we lose or win at wembley or dont even get there in this simod cup thing.

You can't much more hypocritical than that. You can be number 1 on the list.

Playing at Wembley in April might be a good exercise for the real thing a month later:102:
On the other hand i'd prefer auto promotion:icon_wink

Facts are that we should win the Johnstons Paint Trophy as we are the best team in the competition and it would be good for team confidence to win something. Secondly, we should also gain automatic promotion from League 1 based on the evidence I have seen so far on how good Leicester City are relative to the rest of the league.

I am under no illusions that this might not be as easy as it sounds, but lets not forget the squad we have relative to other sides is far stronger and our goal difference record so far is excellent.

I see no reason why we cannot achieve this.

How many times do people have to be told the rules don't allow that to happen?

We'll get fined if we don't play the majority of first team players.

Thanks but I'm well aware of that...and I took that into account. I hardly think that any fine would be significant. There are so many precedents for fielding weakened sides these days that it would be difficult for the Football League to be punitive.

As to Boc's point....personally I don't think a JPT final whether at Wembley or Freeman's Common would be worth watching so I would be happy to be debarred on that occasion leaving tickets for those who want them. I respect the views of those like him that do think it would be significant and hope that the weather keeps fine if we reach the final.

If people want to go and watch us in this Competition then fine,if they fancy a day out at Wembley if we get there then fine but lets not dress it up it its the Worst Football Competition ever in the entire World and the very fact that we are in it is a total embarrasment.I have absolutely no interest in it at all.

Well that's you on Boc's list for definite.......

Just out of interest do the people that think we should get knocked out of the JPT as soon as possible also think we should put out the reserves in the FA Cup?

Of course not

It is the most prestigious Cup competition in the world

Hardly comparable to something that is possibly the least (ranking lower than the Westerby Cup)

My sentiments exactly.

I really don't want to be unkind but I am amazed to read comments from some people on this forum (whom I have always felt were both intelligent and knowledgeable even if I disagreed with them) going on about this ridiculously superfluous kick around as if it had any relevance at all.

If it has any significance, it's the embarrassment of us being in it.
To misquote from the parlance of the U.S. Presidential election contest: this competition is a pig's head - whether it culminates in a Wembley or local rec based final. It's bad enough having league fixtures against nonentities without duplicating the problem with meaningless mid week fixtures against them (and worse).

Even though we have no chance of winning it, would distract the players more then the JPT and could also result in injuries to top players?

Seems that it comes down to sheer snobbery and the belief that we are 'too good' for the JPT rather then any footballing reasons.

As I have said before even though it is a lower league trophy, winning it would be less embarassing then getting knocked out.

The FA Cup is a tad more enthralling than the JPT.Theres a chance of meeting one of the Premier League sides, the revenue of a FA Cup run and all the other stuff that is associated with the FA Cup so I would hope we put at as full a strength side as possible.People look out for FA CUP results, some of the morning papers don't even bother printing the JPT results, its a non entity trophy in football circles

Not sure that its some of us thinking we are too good,it's more an embarrasement. We clearly aren't too good for it and its serves as a reminder how just how far we have fell. However if itsprovides entertainment for people and they want to go watch these matches then good on them

You know most like big teams they try to aim to win every competition they enter. Regardless of how relevant and whats advantages they are to winning them - they still adopt a professional attitude in an attempt to win it. I'd like us to be the same really.

Last season's final was between Portsmouth and Cardiff - with Barnsley also making the Semi-final and Bristol Rovers making the quarters. I fail to see why we could not get just as close at some point in the future

And we have no chance whatsoever of winning the Premier League - does that mean we must refuse to play there in the eventuality of us getting promoted some time in the future ?

We have those every season. All other football clubs are nonentities, who exist for the sole purpose of reflecting Leicester City's glory/delineating the dimensions of Leicester City's decline (delete as appropriate).

The JPT is the 4th most important competitition we are in this season. No good manager or team ever approaches a competitive game with the attitude "We don't really want to win this", but this does need to be balanced with ordering of priorities. I think we've been giving it the right approach - rotating a bit to keep players fresh and give fringe first-teamers games, without making wholesale changes - and see no reason why this shouldn't continue.
