i would frigging love this to happen, always been a fan of his, his goals, mainly as an impact player, could be the difference between us being successful and not imo.

I don't see how he could have declined in quality so much over 12 months? I'd imagine he'd spend most of the season as an impact striker, its not like he would be doing Howard's running or taking on defenders. At this level, with the money he'd cost us, I don't think we could realistically get anyone much better.

None of that matters Teddy. it's a scientific, proven fact 36 is too old for idiots to comprehend, ability doesn't matter a ****.

Absolutely! Look at Powell. 39 and practically needed a zimmer frame just to get on the pitch. Used to tackle the wingers by hooking his walking stick around their ankles.

Ferdinand was 36 when he came to us and he had a fantasic season here, Phillips always seems fitter and more determined than Ferdinand too

Surely, the great concern here is the reported £750k price tag.
i find this problematic for two reasons;
Firstly, even if we accept that he could still be a twenty goal Championship player, were he to pick up a major injury in his first few games, that would be the end of his career whilst a younger player would recover.
Secondly, should he complete this season, would he last another? £750k for one season is a lot of money for a club such as Leicester - and before anybody mentions Campbell, he may cost us more per goal, but he was clearly bought with the hope of scoring goals for many seasons.

I would pay that amount for Kev Phillips, he is a striker who you know will score goals and that is something we don't have.

The fact that he was Birmingham's (a club just been promoted to the Premier League) top goalscorer last season with 13 goals, despite not playing much, shows that he is a great goalscorer. Can't believe people are turning their noses up at him - FFS at the minute we're going to be starting the season with a winger up front!

Philips has shown he can cut it in the championship, top scorer for a team that got promoted, whats 750K if he does the business and we go up this season, if not we still have him for next season he can do the job, Sign him up NP

I'd love it if we signed him.

First thought was can't see it happening... but, he's not going to stay at Birmingham in the Prem, and I've not heard about other clubs going in for him.

Get it done!

Would be a great signing if we could get him. And I'm a bit more optimistic than Homer that it is possible. He's spent an awful lot of time in the midlands, he won't get a sniff in the Prem, and I've not seen a great deal of interest from other clubs. (of course, this is also indicative of lazy, half-arsed journalism).

Seems like Pearson's sort of bloke, professional, hard working, and committed. Probably has a few goals left in the tank and could thrive next to Howard.

We'd be a better side with Phillips in it. Fact.
