We really raised our game. For me WAYNE BROWN outstanding. Paul Gallagher looked excellent. Fryatt nearly scored a wonder goal. MICHAEL MORRISON superb. BRUNO BERNER we've missed you.

A good point but now we must try to play to that level every week.

agreed, proud of the fight we put in...try like that every week and the only way is up, need to get a bit more professionalism

An excellent, well earned point made even sweeter by the absolutely brilliant defensive performance, they looked unbeatable out there today. Couldn't find fault with any of the players today, apart from Wellens - it was a soft sending off, but it was very rash from him. I think if he'd stayed on we could have taken all 3 points.

I agree but in games like that there is always the chance that a player will get sent off. I thought Wellens had done well up until that point. Its just a shame that Fryatt didn't stick one of his chances away. I was also banking on a solano free kick in the last minute!

Is it me or does having Berner back make a massive difference. Someone who knows where to be rather than the headless chicked that is mcgivern.

Wellens has only himself to blame. Overly aggressive for the first challenge; crass stupidity for the second. An excellent team performance however. It's difficult to pick out a ‘man of the match’ but perhaps, considering the idiotic comments from some levied at him week in week out, Wayne Brown deserves the plaudits.

Very confident performance, an over the 90 minutes, we looked like the team a the top of the table. Very disappointed not to have nicked the win but if you would have been offered a point at 30 minutes, I'm sure we would have been glad to take it.

Wellens second booking was maybe a little harsh, but the first could have easily been a straight red so it probably balanced it out.

Brown was strong, as was the rest of the back four. Fryatt unlucky not to stick one of his chances away. The Newcastle defender just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

One definite penalty in my opinion (and probably everyone elses). Butt's handball would have been harsh, but could have been given.

Newcastle for me didn't look anything special, and with a couple of performances like today, we could be right back in the mix.

Fantastic performance, shame we didn't get the win we deserved

Thought Fryatt, Waggy, Gallagher and Brown were all top notch. And Berner. In fact, the whole back 4. We kept attacking even with 10 men, and yet became only the 2nd team this season to stop Newcastle scoring.

Hopefully that's enough to give the team belief and kick up the arse to push on now :)

Liked the formation. A proper 4-3-3 until we went down to 10 men and all seemed comfortable in their positions.

Excellent performance from the back four. However, for league leaders, the Geordies were abysmal up front. If they'd had a finisher, we'd have got buried.

The attitude of the players today was good and we took the initiative and looked dangerous (despite now three successive blanks in the league).

Wellens should be fined 2 weeks wages and given a right bollocking. He should have been booked before his first yellow. He then strolled around for a while giving the ball away and making fouls. To be honest, we were probably better off without him. What the hell is this guy's problem recently? He's been playing like a prick for weeks.

My second complaint is against the decision to bring Howard on. When we were tiring and chasing space, we bring on the most immobile player in the squad. Utter nonsense.

If Wellens was sent off for the first challenge, fair enough. No way was the second one even a foul, never mind a card. Berner should've gone though.

Couple of Newcastle players should've deffo got cards for some pretty dodgy fouls too. So overall I thought the ref was awful. Not biased, but just shit.

We played as well as I've seen us play for a long time for the first hour, and then defended excellently at the end. Howard ruins our game completely, they stopped passing it around as soon as he came on, and because he can't hold the ball up or find teammates with flick ons it meant the ball kept coming back at us.

Probably because every time we cleared the ball it just went straight back again, so NP thought if we aimed the clearances towards Howard he might be able to hang on to the ball better.

Except that he usually had two defenders around him (climbing all over him) so helped even up the numbers a bit.
