Just seen the highlights on Sky Sports News. If you believe them, it was all Newcastle and we didn't even have a sniff. They didn't show Fryatt's amazing run, or any of our shots. Typical Sky, jizzing their pants over Newcastle.

I thought Oakley stepped upto the plate after Wellens was sent. The back 4 were immense and Fryatt nearly scored the goal of the season.

I'm not sure whether Newcastle were shit or we just made them look that way.

i wish someone wud shut tha commentator up what 1 first class knob!!!!

no, he had a decent game, we could have been down to 9 very easily

Nigel did not think the referee had a decent game. The folks close to him shouted "do something about the referee Nigel" and he shouted back about wanting to stick something "up his jacksi".

I'm really proud of the effort the players put in and the fantastic atmosphere. That was by far the most entertaining 0-0 draw I've seen.

Firstly, Newcastle were utter wank. Unimaginative hoofball to Carroll and Routledge diving were their only threats, neither of which actually caused our defence many problems. I hate to say it but WBA and particularly Forest look much better than Newcastle.

Secondly, our luck was right out today. I saw the second Wellens booking on the telly in the concourse at halftime and I think Routledge took a dive. Little more than a hand on his back and the lad throws himself on the floor, disgusting. The King header/handball happened very quickly but the players put up a big appeal so it was obviously close. Matty was so unlucky to be denied by the arse of their defender after that lovely run and shot.

Lastly and most importantly, we were fired up and could have easily won the game if we had only taken our chances. Oakley, Fryatt, Gallagher and Berner were particularly superb in my opinion.

Quote of the day has to go to my dear old dad. After Gally's trick to spin past a Newcastle player on the half way line he shouted; 'Oh Gallagher, you pornstar!' Made me chuckle.

Weale - 7 - Caught all he could and made a great save in the first half off of their left back.

Morrison - 7 - Won his headers and got his tackles in. Didn't put a foot wrong.

Hobbs - 7 - Dealt well with Nolan's runs from deep and headed plenty.

Brown - 8 - Strangley his distribution wasn't dire and he actually played some nice balls into the channel for Waghorn. Defended valiently against the crap but awkward Carroll

Berner - 8 - Good God I've missed his big challenges and occasional runs at the opposition, the guy is class.

Oakley - 8 - Kept it simple, won the ball and had his best game in ages.

Wellens - ? - Stupid tackle got him booked in the first place but I felt he was unlucky with the second as Routledge went down far too easily.

King - 6 - Hardly noticed him but he obviously did something right to keep Nolan, Butt and Guthrie quiet.

Gallagher - 8 - Lovely football, maybe the guy is a bit of a luxury. I wished he played like he did today every week.

Waghorn - 7 - Pure effort and endevour.

Fryatt - 8 - Would have scored one of the goals of the season but for the late block. His effort to cover the pitch more than made up for the absense of Wellens.

Hopefully this brave performance means our poor run is at an end. If onlly they could inspire themselves to play like that every week. Why can't we take that kind of performance to Barnsley and Scunthorpe away?

I thought we were magnificent in every department, with the notable exception of Wellens who was a complete and utter cock. To those people who applauded him off, you are feckin' nobjockeys of the highest order. I hope Pearson kicked his arse around the car park for a good hour

The back four were outstanding. Thank feck for Bruno Berner
Oakley, Gallagher and King were simply exceptional
Waggers and Fryatt were superb

Best all round City performance for a long time :038:

I thought, other than his fouls obviously, Wellens played well in the first half hour... his passing his fantastic. Strangely, I thought Oakley was awful while Wellens was on the pitch, but really stepped up afterwards (although, if Gally hadn't got injured, I would've liked to see Nobby come on for Oakley around that time)

Our attacking threat died when Waghorn went off/Howard came on (not sure which side of that killed it), but the players were clearly knackered so could understand the reasoning for it.

All in all, can't have any major complaints about that. Other than we need to cut out the silly fouls (there were a lot more than Wellens and Berner)

The Nicky Butt handbull from the corner was ball to hand.... but the one in the wall (Carroll?) was a definite handball and I think we were unlucky to not get a penalty... I just assume the ref/lino didn't see the arm lift up)

I thought we were outstanding today.

As for Ritchie Wellens he had to go.

Man of the match for me Micheal Morrison, would not look out of place in the prem..Paul Gallagher,Fryatt and Waghorn linked up well.

Matt Oakley ran the show in midfield, and should stay there.

Infact they were all good bar Wellens who seemed up for it in a nasty way..christ didn't you just know he was going to get sent off.

King - 6 - Hardly noticed him but he obviously did something right to keep Nolan, Butt and Guthrie quiet.

I really kept an eye out for King today, and I think he does a lot of the simple things, and does it well... often involved with little passes linking play, or just breaking down play or clearing up loose balls... which is why I think he often goes unnoticed. But I think he does those things well.

Fryatt with the Maradona-esque run... beautiful!

Yep.... as soon as the commentators said about Marriner's red card record, I thought ooh, that's one of ours going to go... and my eye was on Wellens or Brown.

A match like that and Boc sneaks off early!

Boc we saw you go well before the final whistle. As a mod this is just not good enough.

:icon_lol:
Lovely stuff, we drew with a third rate newcastle, we didn't hammer barca 4-0.

Not the time for sarcasm - we rediscovered our spirit today and hopefully our crowd learned what a difference it can make when you actually support and get behind the team.

It's the same on the BBC website, although there's far bigger problems:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/8483774.stm

Patrick Van Aanholt had the home side's best chance...

And I thought we were at home?

Martyn Waghorn also fired wide during a rare away attack but Nigel Pearson's side were forced to defend for large periods :102: to gain their point.

Last 10 minutes maybe, but other than that we looked more likely to score if anything.

Alan Smith, Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan also all went close with headers while at the other end Steve Harper made a fine save from Matty Fryatt.

Whey! One of Matty's chances got a mention... :icon_roll

from what i could hear the crowd just ganged up (unjustly) on the ref...

I completely agree with you, He does a very important job and I think it takes a lot of discipline and talent for someone so young to anchor the midfield like he does.
