We were easily second best in what was a terrible game. We were ponderous om the ball, poor in our decision making and arguably worse with our execution.

The best exmample of that was Vardy's failure to out away an opportunity he would have scored last season. He took too long to decide to shoot, then took too long to actually do it, before running into a dead end. His confidence looks shot and he has stopped running.

What I would say though is we'd be happy with this start in almost every top flight season in our history. Last season, understandably, has raised expectations. I think what we are seeing is a simple reversion to the mean. I can live with that.

I think we need to lose this attitude. We have a wage bill that must be about the same as a Spurs or Everton. We're attempting to be a side that competes in the top half of the league.

Being grateful for slim pickings would have been fine before last season. But the reality of what we achieved, together with the massive hikes in wages for players and staff, mean that I expect much more.

The wages have upped my expectations a bit but even if they were on £50 a week I'd expect more effort than some of the displays I've seen so far. Early days and I have faith in Clownio to drop some players to give them a kick up the arse. Vardy's film clearly doesn't include anything in the Prem early this season.

Exactly. Jamie Vardy is not the non-league player we got for £1 million, he's someone we've decided to pay incredible sums of money so he wouldn't leave for Arsenal. His and others performances are not acceptable.

Regardless of the attitude of supporters that is what is happening. Last season was a one off. Yes, we deserved the title, but we were able to win it because every single big club failed. That won't happen again the decades, and it's likely that it won't be us who stand to benefit when it does. I'm not going to allow unrealistic expectations to spoil my enjoyment of following us.

Vardy spends his entire game pointing where the ball should go. He never points at himself.

A shadow of the Vardy we knew, needs to be dropped as he is currently offering us sweet **** all.

There's a massive jump in expectations between expecting us to win the league and expecting a top 10 finish and some effort.

Or expecting us not to play like a bunch of incompetent fecks who can't be arsed any more

Ture

But it's currently worse than that. If you couldn't give a shit but could last season you get a rest at half time if we're shit enough. We've got some ****ing massive issues to sort out this season and hopefully Claudio can do that one day. Dropping the main men for Chelsea or a CL game is the only answer but i dont expect it to happen.

Before today we were 1 point behind last years equivalent fixtures. We beat Southampton last year so now we are 3 points behind. Not a good omen.

Time for Claudio to kick arse, bench the underperformers, and use the new players we have paid a lot of money for. I am certain Musa and Gray would love to start a game.

Glad to hear the defence was looking more solid.

We were complete dogshit - second best in every department, but I'll save my total wank flannel award to the joint recipients of Vardy, Mahrez and Albrighton

I'm not his biggest fan but the main reason he was poor today was the fact that Southampton focused their attacks down our left side - presumably having identified Fuchs as our defensive weak link - and Albrighton had to cover back and save Fuch's arse over and over again.

I can't recall Fuchs having a good game all season. Unfortunately our only other options are Chilwell and Schlupp. The lack of full back options are ridiculous when you think we have £18m worth of striker who can't even get on the bench.

Agree to disagree. I thought Drinkwater had his worst performance for months, his long balls just kept going straight out of play and he wasn't creating anything.

Our defence played well. Thought Huth was our MOTM by a decent distant.

Yep, I think he started the first half poorly with a few miss placed passes. But I saw him as the one player driving forward and trying to make things happen. (although not much came off today)

Not sure I'd say they focused there attacks...I'd say most there attacks came from Tadic who was on the left.

I didn't actually think they were better than us at all.

The passing from the Soton defenders was utterly pathetic, although our inability to take advantage of it was just as bad.

We pressed hard in stages but ultimately Ranieri needs to start using his squad more, certain players need a big rocket up them.

A lack of quality today

Kasper 7 - our best player on the pitch today
Fuchs 6 - He has his cool movements but he tires before the 90
Morgan 7 - did well in the middle of the defence
Huth 6 - solid
Simpson 5.5 - I think Hernandez deserves a run
Albrighton 5 - never question his effort but his crosses were poor
Drinkwater 6 - some poor passes but some good defence
Amartey 6 - some good defence and a couple of howling errors
Mahrez 5.5 - lacking quality but put in a shift
Vardy 3 - waste of space, not closing down, some poor passes and that goal chance - yikes needs to be benched
Slimani 6 - Would benefit from playing alongside Okazaki to start the game.

Okazaki 6 - did more in first 30 seconds than Vards
Gray 6 - a threat with the ball
ulloa 5 - had too little time to show anything, didn't

The problem is not the players, and the sad thing is it is going to take the owners and majority of the fans at least a season to realise what the problem is, but the sad fact is unless the owners act quickly the teams motivation will get distroyed very quickly and what drove them to achived last season will be distroyed.

Alternatavly can someone explain to Ranieri that the only reason we achieved last season is because we played very different game of football to this season. But I doubt Ranieri has a clue about the difference.

Err....are you saying the owners need to change the manager?
