Post Match Leicester 1 Nottingham Forest 3

It was so obvious.... even Nuno knew it was the right thing to do.

We just plodded on until the game was out of sight.

The most worrying thing is just how quickly they gave up. After the second goal went in, they'd had it. I was watching them just go through the motions but they weren't speaking to one another, they weren't running at pace and they weren't looking to be proactive. They was just waiting for the clock to tick on to 90 so they could get out of there.

I thought we were decent in the first half. Not great, but certainly a match for them. Second half it was men against boys. They looked stronger, better set up and it was easy for them.

I know it’s easy to blame the central defenders, as they were pretty shit, but the first two goals weren’t caused by them, they were caused by others ****ing up in shit positions.

For as decent as we were in the first half, Mavididi and Fatawu were dogshit. Their fullbacks coped with them easily and obviously it was no different in the second half. Despite the clamour for them to both play, the set up for them in the first half worked, but they didn’t deliver.

Ah well, now to read through all my WhatsApp groups that contain lots of Forest fans and these are ones who definitely care about us, given where I live.

First half I really enjoyed. Thought we looked good at times, but was generally pretty even.

Second half. **** me. What the **** was that?

The central defensive pair were an absolute shambles. Fatawu demonstrated why he hasn’t been started matches, and I’m a bit annoyed at the cowardice for starting both him and Mavididi together to appease the fans, when Cooper has said they can’t play together in his system (and tonight showed he might just be right about that).

And the Soumare substitution was just plain baffling.

Bad day at the office for sure, but we’re still in a decent position. Three wins on the trot for a newly promoted team doesn’t exactly happen too often. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

The Mavididi, Fatawu thing wasn't a problem in the first half. Fatawu was getting a little bit of stick but he was a nuisance, he won corners, he got us moving forward and generally, he was okay. Not his best, but not bad. Mavididi was quiet but again, didn't do much wrong and played some decent balls forward. He also made some good challenges. Again, not his best but not his worst.

Then came the second half.

Both of them went to complete shit as did Winks who had been superb in the first. We absolutely should have gone to five at the back as soon as we saw that's what they had done because it completely nullified us and we couldn't match them. When we did use our substitutions they were bizarre.

Like I say, although Cooper only gets a 4 out of 10 for today because he couldn't adapt, it's absolutely not all on him. He got it right in the first half. Winks and Buonanotte simply cannot make such stupid, simple errors. They were just inexplicable and our CBs, who were already playing shite, were thrown under a massive great bus. The worrying thing was just how wrong he got it in the second half.

We have to find a way to play football for a full 90 minutes. It just can't go on like it is because we are mostly either having to rescue points or we lose. There will come a time when there just isn't enough in the tank to rescue anything and it's all downhill from there.

He changed the system to fit them both (like Enzo). Soumare made one great run. He’s better than many think he is on here.
If he's twice as good as I think he is, that would still make him absolutely ****ing shit.

Oh yeah one other thing. I can see why Coops has been playing JJ on the right, as I thought he was poor today on the left.

It does beg the question why we didn’t bring in a left back in the transfer window though.

****ing hell I just had a little peep at Foxestalk.

The Cooper Out thread, that was started before the season had been began, has just reached page 203.

🤣

But pages 10 through to 200 are mainly about monster munch flavour preferences, I'm guessing.

I had no idea that commentator was René Meulensteen’s daughter. Name should have clued me in really.
I have no idea who René Meulensteen is.

The goals may not have been caused by the defenders (well maybe the third 😂) but they should have been prevented by them. I’d have been gutted to have conceded any of those playing 5 a side with my geriatric friends so god only knows how we managed to concede 3 such piss poor goals. The second - everyone going on about the finish from Wood - how any defender would ever consider letting him get a shot off is beyond me!

Wasn’t just the three goals - they should have had at least a couple more in the second half

Been shite defensively all season

Why can’t we put together two halves?

I’m worried that in every post match interview Cooper has said at least once ‘that’s on me’. Every now and again that’s fine. People make mistakes. Every game though… that’s indicative of a problem.

I agree with the second goal, in terms of defending the shot, but it was caused by giving the ball away in a shit position.

Not sure what the central defenders could have done differently on the first goal, though.

None of what I say detracts from the point that they were shit, mind. I was just making the point that those two goals were caused by similarly shit play by others.

The third goal is an absolute disgrace to defending.
